Specification torming'part of Letters Patent No. 138,472, dated May 6, 1873; application filed March 24, 1873. I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HIRAM H. BLAIR and STEPHEN BARRY, of Brunswick, in the county of Medina and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Catch or Fastener for Slats to Springs forBed-Botto1ns,of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to an improved catch or fastener for slats to springs in bed-bottoms, and consists of a saddle attached to the upper end of the spring in which the slat lies, the saddle being in two parts and arranged so as to open to receive the slat, and, when the slat is pressed down in place, secure it there.
The slats may be easily removed by turning up one edge, which opens the catch, and the slat may be withdrawn.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a spring having our improvement attached. Fig. 2 is a detached view of a part of the slat that sits in the saddle.
A is a spring of the usual form. B is the sadwhich prevents the slats sliding lengthwise in the saddle.
With this improvement the slats are held firmly in place, and can be readily taken out, if desired, for cleaning or for transportation.
The saddle consisting of the two parts, B O, constructed as shown, in combination with the spring A and slatG, as and for the purpose set forth.
