Description
F. A.. MUSCENTE.
LINGERIE CLASP.
APPLLCATIOH mmm/m. 1,2, 1921.
Patented June 14,1921.
FAUSTO A. MUSCENTE, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
LINGERIE-CLASP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 14, 192i.
Application filed March 12, 1921. Serial No. 451,?20.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FAUSTO A. MUsonN'rn, ai citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in, Lingerie-Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
Mv invention relates to lingerie clasps and the like and has for its essential objects the prevention of accidental movement of the clasp relatively to the engaged fabric; firmness of engagement with the fabric; the avoidance of tearing, abrasion, or other injury to the latter; simplicity;v and inexpensiveness of construction.
To the above ends essentially my invention consists in such parts and in such combinations of parts as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings which forni a part of this specification,
Figures l and 2 are a plan view and a side elevation respectively of my novel clasp in closed position, and
Fig. 8, a perspective view of the same in open position..
Like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the views.
ln the form of my invention herein shown the clasp is cut from a metallicsheet into a flat, oblong, resilient blank bent to required form, and comprises two flat jaws or arms 5 and 6 connected at one end with an integral -bend or open loop 7. The base member 5 has a terminal upturned `curved lip or loop 8 adapted to be overlapped and embraced by ahook 9 upon the free end of the tongue or jaw 6. The body or base 5 is divided midway its length into two sections 10 and 11 inwardly by bending thev material thereof intermediate its length to form a substantially flat horizontally disposed bearing portion or strip 13 having` a loop le at each end overhanging or engaging the member' 5 and merging in oppositely disposed auxiliary loops l5 formed adjacent each other on the inner end of the base sections l0 and ll.
In operation the material tobe engaged is clamped by the arms 6 against the bearing portion 13 which is yielding under a certain degree of pressure by virtue of the loops 14C and l5. Further resiliency is afforded by the sectional character of the base.
Thus a snug engagement of the fabric is insured, and the elevation and form of the bearing member 13 and its connected loops prevent any accidental relative movement of the fabric.
l claim l. ln a lingerie clasp, clamping arms, a bend connecting the arms, and a bearing plate having looped ends intermediate the arms and supported by one arm.
2. In a lingerie clasp, clamping arms, a
bend connecting the arms, and a bearing plate having looped ends and yieldingly mounted on an intermediate portion of one arm.
3. in a lingerie clasp, clamping arms, a bend connecting the arms, a bearing plate extended beneath the same and intermediate they arms, and loops on the ends of the plate integrally connected with an intermediate portion of one of thearms.
et. In. a lingerie clasp, clamping arms, a bend connecting the arms, one of said arms comprising two sections, loops on the adjacent ends of the sections, and a bearing plate supported by the loops.
ln testimony whereof l have aflixed my signature.
FAUDT() A. MUSCENTE.
