To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Kinrnnn A. Gnonon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Brushes and Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying draw- $1 invention relates to new and improved combined brush and holder having for its object, among other things, to provide simple, eEec't-ive and economical means whereby a brush and soap, either in stick or powder form, may be'carried in a compact device and still be independently usable.

To these and other ends, my invention consists in the device having certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will he hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claim.

Referring to the drawings in which like numerals of reference designate like parts in both figures; V

Figure 1 is. a side elevation of the embodiment of one form of my invention partly in section, with the members in their relative closed positions;

- against outer movement by a flange 5 at the open end of said socket. On section 1, adjacent tothe socket, is a stop flange 6 whereby to limit the movement of the section 2. The section 2 is constructed with a reduced end 8, the inside diameter being substantially the same as the outside diameter of section 1 and the inside diameter of the enlarged portion is substantially the same as the outside diameter of the flange 6. A bead 7 and a similar head 9 are formed upon the opposite ends of the sections 1 and 2 respectively. While I prefer to form these beads, as shown, this is not essential to the operation of the device.

By the construction shown and described slide freely over the section 1, the movement in one direction being limited by the head 7 and in the opposite direction by the flange 6. hen the section 2 is drawn backward over sect-ion 1 the brush at is exposed and in position for use and when moved to the opposite limit of its movement the brush is covered and protected.

The numeral 14: designates a hollow boii or case upon the open end of which is threaded the cap 10. and said box has a sliding fit within the section- 1. When closed the knurled head 11 on the cap 10 projects over the end of the section 1 so as to present a neat and pleasing appearance.

This box is provided with a perforated bottom 12 and has a perforated closure cap 13, of the usual structure thereon which perforations register with those in the box bottom for the purpose of permitting the escape of the powder therein for distribution upon the end of the brush when the box is removed from the section 1. instead of a box or case 14 a stick of soap may be substituted, the same being held by threading the cap 10 upon one end thereof.

. Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

In a device of the character described, the combination with a section, closed at one end by an inwardly projecting integral socket, and having an exterior flange adjacent thereto, with an exterior bead adjacent to the opposite end; of a brush held within said socket; a second section telescopically inclosing the aforesaid section,

open at both ends, one of which is reduced in diameter so that the interior thereof is substantially the same diameter as the exterior of that portion of the aforesaid section between the flange and head thereon; a cap closing the open end of the first of said sections; and a container mounted in said cap.
