IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOSITQRS STANDS.

plained hereafter to need preliminary description,with the view of producing a more steady, permanent, and economical structure than the stands usually made for compositors.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved stand for com posit-ors; and Figs. 2 and 3 detached views, illustrating the detailed construction of different parts of the stand.
My improved stand is, with the exception of the drawers and the type-case, made in the present instance entirely of iron, there being four legs, A A and B B, and the legs A and B being connected together by the longitudinal bar D, and the legs A and B by the longitudinal bar D and also by a frame, E, and the bars D and D are connected together by the transverse bars Gr. These bars G are suitably formed for receiving the type-cases H and I, and for retaining them at the proper inclina' tion, the lower edge of the case H resting against the bar D, and the lower edge of the upper case against ledges 00 formed on the said transverse bars. (See Fig. 3.) Each of the legs is of the T-shaped sectional form represented in Fig. 2, and may be made either of cast or rolled iron, and to the flanges a of the legs are secured the ends of horizontal L- shaped bars, forming runners or guides for a series of drawers, M, each runner being furnished with a stop for preventing the drawers from being pushed too far inward. Single runners only may be secured to the legs 13 B at the outer end of the stand; but double runners, as shown in Fig. 2, may be secured to the legs A and A at the opposite ends of the stand so that another stand may be added to the latter, and the space between the two stands rendered available for drawers.
I claim as my invention 1. A stand, consisting of the legs .A A, B B, bars D D, G G, and K K, all constructed and arranged substantially as described.
2. The legs composed of T-shaped iron, in combination with runners K of L-shaped iron.
