Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed August 20, 1919. Serial No 318,809.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SOLOMON CHERVIN, a citizen of the United States, resident of San Francisco, in the county of San F rancisco and State of California, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Combined VVashtubs and Sinks; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make andv use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a central transverse section through one of the tubs.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the sink bottom and drain pipe section.
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the enlarged head of the drain pipe section.
The invention has relation to combination wash tubs and sinks, having for its princistruction and combinations of parts as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, the numeral 2 designates a wash tub, of enameled metal of suitable dimensions and having tapered side walls 3, the bottom of the tub being dished as shown at 5 toward a central drain opening 6, and
two opposite side walls of the tub having the sink is to be converted into a Wash tub. The drain pipe section 10 has at its lower end loose engagement at 13 with a central drain opening 6, of the bottom of the tub, whereby any water escaping into the tub around .the marginal edges of the sink bottom will be permitted to pass into the drain opening of the tub bottom; and the enlarged head 11 of the drain pipe section has its perforated top made in two semi-circular sections 15, 15, one section being fixed in position and the other section being-arranged to be movable in a ring guide-groove 16 of the side wall of the head, so that it may be moved to register with the other section, thereby leaving a semi-circular opening 17,
wherein the fingers of the person usingthe sink may be inserted to lift the drain pipe section and the sink bottom as a unit to convert the sink into a wash tub.
The shoulders 7 of each tub'project inwardlyfor about a quarter of an inch only and do not interfere with the proper use of the tub.
I claim The combination with a wash tub hav ing a drain connection and sidewalls pro-' vided with inwardly projecting horizontal shoulders, of a false bottom resting upon said shoulders and having a central opening provided with a recess therearound, and a drain pipe section engaging said drain connection'having an enlarged head secured within said recess and havinga perforated top formed in two semi-circular sections one of which is fixed in position and the other of which movable to register with the other section and expose an opening for the insertion of the fingersjof one hand to 11ft the drain pipe section and the sink bottom as aunit from the tub.
