Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,826, dated March 18, 1873.
dowScreens; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip- `tion thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form apart of this specication.
The nature of my invention consists in the construct-ion and arrangement of an adjustable window-screen, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 a side view, ot' my invention.
- A represents a frame of any suitable dimen- "sions, which is to be filled with any suitable material to answer for a screen. In one side of the frame A is an adjustable slide, B, which is attached to metal guides C G sliding in grooves or recesses on the sides of the frame. Across the frame A is a metal guide-plate, D, with thumb-nut a in the tenter tggioldf'th'emm' slide in the frame when putting it into the window-frame. Then, by loosening the thumbnut a, the slide B adjusts itself by means of springs b b arranged within the side pieces of the frame, and fits the opening. This thumbnut can also be used to lock the screen when p in the window so that it cannot be opened from the outside. The metal guides C C have each a slot, e, through which a screw, d, passes and stops the slide at a suitable point.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and d esire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The guides C C, springs b b, thumb-nut a, and slide B, in combination with the bar D and frame A, all constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose specied.
