known as oil and gas burners and more particularly relates to a combination gas burner. The invention has for its princlpal ob ect to provide a device of the above mentioned character designed so that an effective gas flame will be produced at all times regard less of the pressure of the gas the parts heing-related so that when the gas is at a normal or standard pressure the air mixer may be employed whereas when the low pressure exists the valves may be adjusted to assure of the mixing of the air and gas at the point of combustion.
It is an additional object of this invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character composed of main and auxiliary burners designed to be used respectively when the gas is at a normal or a standard pressure and at a low pressure, valves acting in conjunction therewith for controlling the flow of gas to the desired burner.
It is a more specific object ofthis invention to provide a device of the. above men tioned character wherein means is employed for covering the secondary or low pressure burner-when the same is not in use.
It is an additional object of this invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is simple in construction,
thoroughly reliable and efficient in its purpose and inexpensive in manufacture.
Other objects will be in part obvious and in part'hereinafter set forth.
The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, the combination of elements and the arrangement of parts which will be amplified in the construction hereinafter described and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the appended claims- The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawin s, in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of one form of the invention.

Referring now. more pzn'ticularly. lo the accompanying drawings. there is illustrated a main supply pipe 1 from which extends a branch pipe2, the [low of gas through which is controlled by a manually adjustable valve 3, interposedtherein. The pipe 2 terminates in a jet 4 and this jet is disposed within a mixer 5 formed desirably by'flaring the adjacent end of the tubular stem (3 ol the main burner 7, the latter being desirably of round configuration and-formed.with a plurality of perforations 8 which serve as gas outlets. \Vhen the pressure is normal the valve 3 is open and the burner 7 lighted.
As intimated, means have been provided for procuring the effective burning of the' gas when the pressure is low. In reducing this feature of the invention to practice another conducting pipe 9 depends from the branch at a point between the valve and the main supply pipe 1 and has mounted therein a valve 10, manually operable for controlling the flow of gas therethrough. The pipe .9 is joined with the tubular stem 11 of the auxiliary burner generally designated by the numeral 12. In use, the arms are disposed on the upper surface of the main burner 7 soas to position the body 17 directly above the auxiliary burner 12 so that the flames which arise therefrom will be equally'distributed on the vessel (not'shown) adapted to be disposed above the main burner.
In order to protect the auxiliary burner when the main burner is in use a cylindrical cap or cover 20 is employed and is designed for engagement with the auxiliary burner as indicated in Fig. 4.
In Figs. 5 to 8 there is illustrated another form of the invention which is particularly adapted for use in heating ovens of stoves or ranges and oblong or oval heating stoves. In reducing this form of the invention to practice the main burner indicated generally'by the numeral 21 instead of being round is desirably relatively long and narrow being formed with a stem 22 which is connected with the main supply in a manner similar as in the preferred form. The upper side edges of the burner 21 are inclined as at 23 and provided with gas outlets 24 while projecting from opposite sides of-this burner are opposed and outwardly extending flame evening and deflecting wings or blades 25. As in the preferred form the main burner is supported by a bracket 26 which is carried by the auxiliaryburner indicated generally by the numeral 27 disposed beneath the main burner; v This auxiliary burner is connected with the source of supply in a similar manner as shown in the preferred form while the shape of the burner instead of being round is forked and consists of an intermediate portion 28 and spaced side arms 29. the upper surfaces of which are formed with gas outlet openingsBO. The flames which issue from the auxiliary burner 27 are deflected by'the wings or blades'25 so as-to be equally distributed onthe under surface of the vessel (not shown), adapted to be dis osed above the main burner.
As int c other form, suitable meanshave been provided for protecting the aux liary burner- 27, in the present instance consisting of a substantially rectangular cover plate- 31 formed with depending flanges 32, one end of the flange of which is provided with a recess 33 with straddled engagement about the stem of the auxiliary burner 27 What I claim is:
1. The combination with a main gas burner having a mixer and control valve and an auxiliary burner disposed below the main burner and provided with a controlling valve, and a flame evener removably supported by the main burner for operative connection with the flame from the auxiliary burner.
2. The combination with the main gas burner, a mixer therefor and a valve for controlling the flow .of gas to the burner, of an auxiliary burner disposed beneath the main burner, a valve for controlling the flow of gas to the auxiliary burner, a flame evener disposed above theauxiliary burner burner when not in use.
3. The combination with a main gas burner, having a mixer and controlling valve, of an auxiliary burner positioned below the main burner and provided with a controlling valve, and a flame evener and a cover for alternate use with the auxiliary burner. v
4. A device of the character described including in combination with a gas supply pipe a branch pipe leading therefrom and terminating at its opposite end with a through the branch pipe, a main burner, a tubular stem projecting therefrom, a
'mixer formed at the terminal of thestem and disposed about the jet, a conducting pipe leading from the branch pipe, a valve for controlling the flow of gas therethrough,
