Description
CHRISTOPHER J. HEIIDORF, F GLENS FALLS, NEW YORK.
BINDING COMPOSITION" FOR WALL-PAPER COLORS.
No Drawing.
To /77 whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHRISTOPHER J. HEI- noun, a citizen of the l nited States, residing at Glens- Falls, in the county of lV-arren, State of New York, have invented certain new. and useful Improvements in Binding (omposition for \Vall-Paper Colors; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to compositions for use as hinders in the printing of wall paper.
The composition is intended to be used as asuhstitute for the ordinary binder varnish and forms a vehicle for the color. In practice. the composition has a sizing effect at the same time that it acts as a vehicle.
In the manufacture of my improved com-- position. I use the ingredients in the proportlons as follows:
in the assembly of the above named ingredients. the cold water is provided and to it are added the other ingredients in any convenient order and after being thoroughl;

mixed, they are boiled together until there The mass is then permitted to cool and when cold, it is ready for use.
The composition is employed in place of the usual compound of resin and turpentineas a sizing or binder for binding the color to the paper.
hat is claimed is:
1. A binding composition for use in the printing. of wall paper, consisting of water, kerosene oil, boiled linseed oil, soap powder and tapioca flourf 2. A binding composition for use in the printing of wall paper, comprising the following ingredients in the proportions substantially as stated, water 3gallons, kerosene oil g gallon, boiled linseed oil 1 quart, soap powder 1:} pounds, and tapioca fiour powder, Q'pounds.
3. The method of producing a composition for use as a binder in the printing of Wall paper, which consists in assembling in a cold state, water, kerosene oil, boiled linseed oil, soap powder and tapioca flour-and then boilin; the mass until it is pasty.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, 'in the presence of two witnesses.
