S'VANTE VEBNER HOLM, OF STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. so, 182
Application filed April 3, 1919. Serial No. 287,323.
1 '0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SVANTE VnnNnRHoLM, a subject of the King of Sweden, residing at St. Eriksgatan 16, Stockholm, Sweden, 111 the Kingdom of Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in De vices for the Carrying of Curtain-Rods and the like, of which the following is a spool fication.
The present invention has for its object devices for the carrying of curtain rods, poles for draperies, and the like.
In the round curtain rods now used, which are provided with round or spherical knobs at the ends, esthetic considerations demand that the heads of the holders carrying the rods shall entirely-or apparently entirelysurround the rod. In such holders hitherto in use, the head consists of an entire ring, which is formed in one piece with the holder, which is usually screwed into the wall. The taking down of the curtain rod together with the curtain is thus a rather troublesome process. I
The purpose of the present invention 18 to facilitate an easy and convenient fixlng and taking down of the curtain rods, although the heads'of the holder entirely surround, or seem to surround, the rod. For this purpose, the curtain rod is carried, in accordance with the present invention by means of heads put or threaded on the rod, and entirely, or practically entirely, surrounding it, which heads are so arranged that they can be detachably suspended on supports fixed to the window frame, wall, or the like.
In order to make plain the invention, there is shown in the accompanying drawing, by way of example, a form thereof. Figure 1 shows the device in lateral view, with the curtain rod out, and Fig. 2 shows the device with the one end part of the curtain rod, seen in front view. 1 designates the curtain rod, which at either end is carried by a part 2 formed into a head, which part 2 is provided with holes passing through in the longitudinal direction of the curtain rod, so that the curtain rod can be loosely inserted into the said part. For the attachment of the part 2 to the support 3,.which, in accordance with the form shown in the draw ing, at its free end projecting from the wall is equipped with a vertical catch or hook 4, the part 2 is provided with a channel or boring 5 corresponding to the said hook, and running at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the rod, so that the curtain rod, with the aid of the part 2, can easily be hitched onto and lifted from the support 3, which is suitably adjustably fixed to a clamp-like part 6, suitably made from a tin plate bent double, equipped with a vertical channel in which the support 3 can be adj ustably fastened by tightening the screws 7,
tive part. The support 3 can moreover be furnished with one or more attachments 9, 10 for carrying holders 11, 12 for curtain rods 13, intended to carry inner curtains, or holders for the carrying of blinds. It should be obvious that details of theform described here by way of example may be modified without departing from the principle of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, I de' clare, that what I claim is:
1. A device for carrying curtains and the 1ike, comprising a rod, a closed ring loosely encircling said rod and movable longitudinally of the rod, said ring being provided with a channel extending in a direction transversely of the rod, and a supporting member adapted to engage said channel.
2. A device for carrying curtains and the like, comprising a rod, a closed ring loosely' encircling said rod and movable longltudl-v nally of the rod, said ring being provided with a channel extending in a direction transversely of the rod, a supporting mem ber adapted to engage said channel, said supporting member consisting of a hook. and means for supporting said hook for vertical adjustment.
3, A curtain supporting device, comprising. a closed ring adapted to receive a rod, and provided with a tangential channel, and
a fixed support having a hook for engagement with said channel.
4. A curtain supporting device, comprising a closed rinq adapted to receive a rod, every point in the periphery of said ring being in the same circumferential line and the ring being provided with a tangential channel through its body, and a fixed support having a hook for engagement with said channel. l0
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
