BOYS PANTS.
Application filed March 19, 1920. Serial No. 367,172.
. ing will not by carelessness on the part of the boy be liable to protrude therethrough in the way ordinary closing flaps do.
The accompanying drawings illustrate my invention: Figure l is a rear view of a pair of boys pants, with the hinder part let down to show my closing device for the front opening; and Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary rear view of the closing device and the part of the pants around such opening.
The boys pants 10 have the usual front opening 11, usually provided in a front medial seam 12. Behind the opening 11, on the inside of the pants, I place a piece of fabric 13, usually of the same material as the pants. This piece 13 is larger than the opening 11; and it is conveniently an equilateral rectangle, square or diamondshaped, set cornerwise. It projects laterally on both sides of the seam l2, and both above and below the opening 11 it is stitched to the pants by cross-stitching let which crosses such seam and extends some distance therefrom in both directions, preferably to the edge of the closing piece 18. The piece 13 is free between the two rows of cross-stitching 14, on both sides, so that either side corcorners will rarely if ever protrude through 'ing piece being the opening 11, no matter how careless the boy may be, and that when the opening is not in use it is always fully covered by the piece 13. 7 V
I claim as my invention:
1. In boys pants, the combination with the pants having the usual front opening, of a separate closing piece of fabric located behind such opening and stitched to the Specificatidn of Letters Patent. I PatentedSept. 21, 1920. i
pants body above and below the opening a only and unattached between such stitches. H
2. In boys pants, the combination with the pants having the usual front opening, of a separate closing piece of fabric located be hind such opening and stitchedto'the pants body above and below the opening only and unattached between such stitches, said stitching projecting laterally on both sides beyond the vertical line of such opening.
3. In boys pants, the combination with the pants having the usualfront opening, of
a separate closing piece of fabric located behind such opening and stitched to the pants body above and below the opening only and unattached between such stitches, said closa substantially equilateral rectangle set corner-wise.
4. In boys pants, the combination with the pants having the usual front opening, of a closing piece of fabric located behind such opening to cover it, said closing piece being free at a side to give access to the opening but being fastened to the pants above and below such'opening at points offset toward 1 such free side from the vertical line of such opening.
In witness whereof I, GLADYS L. KIRKPAT- RioK, have hereunto set my hand at Greensburg, Indiana, this 29th day of January,
A. D. one thousand nine hundred and twenty.
GLADYS L. KIRKPATRICK.
