Description

aw W 3 W m m v WITNESSES PATENT OFFICE;
ISAAC N. FRAZER, OF ELMER, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN PUMP-HANDLES,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 135,269, dated January 28, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAAC N. FRAZER, of Elmer, in the county of Salem and State of New Jersey, have invented certain Improvements in Pump'Handles, of which the followin g is a specification:
Myvinvention relates to a pump-handle, which'is bifurcated to give a drawing and easy motion thereto, and thereby greater effectiveness than is possessed by an ordinary rigid lever.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved handle. Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of the same.
Like letters in both figures indicate the same parts.
The lever, or as it is commonly called, the handle, I make of two pieces, A B, joined together at a: and confined by means of bolts a a and a fulcrum-piece, O, which is made of iron and connected with the piece A and confined by means of a nut, D. The outer end of the piece B is provided with a hole, b, for connecting it with the piston-rod. The fulcrumpiece 0 has a hole, I), for connecting it with the fulcrum-pin, with which a bracket or other fixed part of the pump is provided in the usual manner.
The upper end of the fulcrum-piece O supports the outer end of the piece 13 when the handle-end of the shaft A is borne down. The piece A B may be formed out of a single piece, if desired, by cutting away the superfluous wood between them.
I claim as my invention- A bifurcated pump-handle, or lever, composed of the parts A B O, substantiallyin the manner and for the purpose set forth.
ISAAC N. FRAZER.
