Description

P. E. ROSEN.
GARTER.
APPLICATION FILED 050.15, 1919. l 3 5 l 872, Patented Sept. 7, i920.
/1 TTOR/VE IS PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL EMIL ROSEN, OF MADISON, WISCONSIN.
GARTER.
Application filed December 15, 1919.
T 0 @ZZ 207mm it may Concern.'
Be it known that I, PAUL EMIL ROSEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident oi' Madison, in the county of Dane and State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garters, of which the following iS a specification.
My invention is an improvement in garters, and has for its object to provide a device of the character Specilied, especially adapted for mens use, wherein the garter consists of a strip of non-elastic material having at end a clasp for engaging the hose and having near the other a loop or openinO, through which the clasp at the opposite end is adapted to be passed to form a sliding loop or noose for encircling the leg at the knee to provide a Support for the hose, which will accommodate itself to the movement of the muscles to properly Support the hose.
In the drawings,
Figure ll is a perspective view showing the improved garter in use, 1.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the garter removed.
In the present embodiment of the invention, a strip ll is providedfof flexible material, and preferably formed of several plies stitched together in the usual manner, and the strip is provided at each end with a clasp for engaging the top of thev hose. N ear each end the strip is enlarged, as indicated at l2, and each enlargement is provided with an opening 13 of suliicient size to permit the passage of the clasp.
The clasp which may be of any desired construction, although that shown is preferred, consists of a strap which is doubled upon itself to form two overlying portions, and the double end of the strap is passed through ar clasp member l5 which is adjust-ably connected with the end of the strip 11.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 7, 1920.
Serial No. 344,888.
as Shown in Fig. l, the central portion of the strap being at the front of the leg. The ends of the strap are passed around in rear of the leg through the openings 13 at the opposite ends. This provides a double grip on the hose, one of the hose engaging mechanisms being at each side of the leg. The garter is of non-elastic material so that there is no rubber to deteriorate as with the usual construction. Since the loop or noose is free to slide, there is no injurious pressure on the leg, the noose or loop yielding to the movement of the muscles.4 At the saire time the hose may always be held in proper position and with the proper degree of tightness, and the device as a whole may be adjusted to suit various conditions. The improved garter may be cheaply constructed and may be sold at a reasonable price.
I claim:
l. A. hose supporter comprising a strap of flexible material having laterally enlarged portions near its ends and having hose-engaging clasps at its ends, each enlargement having an opening through which the hose engaging clasp and the other end of the Strap may pass to form a sliding loop or noose for engaging the leg.
2. hose supporter comprising a strap of flexible material provided at its ends with hose engaging clasps, and formed between its center and its opposite ends with widened portions formed with openings, said strap being adapted to be passed en tirely around the leg with Said widened portions disposed at opposite sides of the leg and with the end portions passing through the openings in the opposite widened portions and engaged with opposite sides of the hose.
