UNITED STATEfii PATENT OFFICE.
FELIX 'ROGOWS-KI, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
RAZOR-SHARIBNER.
Application filed January 13, 1919.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FELIX ROGOWSKI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Sharpeners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in razor Sharpeners, and has for its object the provision of an improved construction for sharpening razors and whereby the razor maybe both honed and stropped on the same device.
Other objects will ap ear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,
F gure l, is a face view of a construction embodying the invention, V
Fig. 2, a longitudinal section of the same,
l ig. 3, a section taken on line 3-3 of rhe preferred term of construction, as illustrated in the drawings, comprises a sh et metal holder t having upwardly turned side flanges 5 adapted to embrace the beveled side edges of a suitable sharpening stone or hone 6, as indicated. At one end the holder l is provided with a re-bent lip or tongue forming a sleeve 7 adapted to pivotally engage a wire loop 8, said tongue being provided at its inner end with an upwardly turned flange 9 adapted to abut agains the corresponding beveled edge of stone (3. The loop 8 is provided with a small central extens'on 10 adapted to engage a hook, nail, or the like, to serve as a means for suspending sharpener from the corresponding end if desired.
At its other end the holder 4 is provided the with a tongue or lip 11, having inwardly turned de flanges 12 adapted to fit over the corresponding side edges of an ordinary razor strep 13 secured to said tongue by means of a rivet l-l, said flanges 12 also abutting against the corresponding end of stone 6 to secure the same in place. The strep 13 is provided at its free end with a wire loop 15 to receive the hand of the user if desired, and with an extension 16 adapted to engage a hook, nail, or the like.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 270,867.
lVith this arrangement it will be observed that the razor may be both honed and stropped on the same instrument. The device may be suspended readily from either end, as convenience may dictate. The specitic form and arrangement of parts is a simple and effective one for the purpose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my i ation into effect, this is capable of "iatie-n and modification without departin from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to aveii myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope oi the appended claims.
l'lmring described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A razor sharpener, comprising a stone having beveled edges; a sheet metal holder having upwardly turned side flanges fitting the beveled side edges o1 said stone; a rebent lip a one end of said holder forming a flange abutting the end of said stone; mounting means secured to said lip; a tongue at the other end of said holder having inwardly turned side flanges adapted to en age the sides of a strep secured to said tongue and abutting against the corresponding end of said stone; and a strop riveted to said tongue between said flanges, substantially as described.
2. A razor sharpener comprising a stone having beveled edges; a sheet metal holder having upwardly turned side flanges fitting the beveled side edges oi said stone, a ire-bent lip at one end of said holder forming a sleeve, the re-bent end of said lip being up wardly turned to form a flange abutting the end of said stone; a mountin loop pivoted in said sleeve; a tongue at the other end of said holder having inwardly turned side flanges adapted to embrace the sides of a strop secured to said tongue and abutting against the corresponding end of said stone; and a strep riveted to said tongue between said flanges, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FELIX ROGOWSKI.
