Description

UNITED. STATES PATENT QFEIcE.
MICHAEL BUBSER, OF JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN SLIDING SUPPORTS FOR CLOTHES-LINES.-
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1341,8d9, dated January 14,.1873.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I,MIOHAEL BUBSER, of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Sliding Support or Brace for Clothes-Lines, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanyin g drawing forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same. Fig. 3 is a view of a pulley-line, showing the application of my invention thereto; and Fig. 4 is a view of a pulley-line as commonly used.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
My invention relates to an improvement in the class of supporters for clothes-line holders consisting of a slotted bar provided-with one or more pulleys, the same being in practice so applied that two lines pass through the slot. The improvement consists in adapting the support or brace for application to and removal from the lines by dividing or cutting through one of the sides thereof, whereby it can be pressed inward, as hereinafter described.
A is a wooden block of proper dimensions, preferably made of a tough kind of wood, and
'formed with a slot, a, extending lengthwise near to the ends of the block. Said slot is made wide enough to allow the line or rope used to pass freely through it. B is a grooved pulley arranged within the slot a near one of its ends, and enabled to turn on a pin secured in the sides of the block A. One of the sides of the slotted block A is cut through obliquel y at 1), near the end opposite to where the pulley is arranged, whereby said side is formed into a natural spring, which may be pressed inward far enough to enable the line or rope used to be passed within the slot at through the side opening thus produced, which latter opening will, however, be closed of itself as soon as said side is relieved of pressure.
Thus constructed, the brace is adapted to be readily and easily applied to and removed from the lines while it will not allow them to slip out accidentally.
What I claim is- The slotted support or brace A a for pulleylines, having one of its sides out through to form a spring, substantially as specified.
MICHAEL BUlBSER.
