,Similar letters refer to si lnilar parts wherever they occur on the drawing.
The purpose of our invention is to produce a traveling, shopping, or lunch bag, or a bag for any other purpose, that may be folded together easily when not used, so as to be curried conveniently in a small compass, as will now be shown and described.
The upper end of the bag b is provided with a hinged or jointed frame, a u, as shown. The fra-ine a a is jointed at the ends c c and also in one or more places, d d, by which arrangement the bag can be easily opened, and when not needed for use it may be doubled up or folded together in a manner as shown in Fig. 4.. The bag b is provided at the lower end with a bottorn, e e, which is made to fold together by means of one or more folds or joints, f. The bag itself is also made to fold at g, as shown,
the fold f in the bottom e e and the fold g in the bag l) being so arranged that if only one joint, d d, is made in the frame a a, only one fold would be needed in 'the bottom e e and bag li; but it' We make more joint-s in the frame a a We would also maire corresponding folds in the bottoni c e and bag b. A suitable handle, strap, die., lz., may be attached to some part of the traine a a in the usual Way. The frame a a is also provided with a suitable hinged or sliding clasp, z', for the purpose of closing the traine ce a, and also for the purpose of bracing the said fraine when the bag is earried about or used, as shown on Fig. 3. Wlhen the bag is not required for use We close the traine c'. a. and fold the frame a a as Well as the bag and bottoni c c over the line el g j', after which it may be folded or doubled up in a manner as shown on Fig. el, whereby We are able to confine it in such a Asnnall space that it ina-y easily be carried in an ordinary pocket or otherwise, as may be desired. The jointed frame ct a and bag E; may be made independently of the folding bottom e e, instead of which the bag l) may be closed at the bottoin in the saine manner as done at ther ends.
Having thus fully described the nature, construction, and opera-tion of our invention, We wish to secure by Letters Patent, and claiml.. The jointed frame d e with its hinges d d arranged opposite and centrally over each other, for the purpose and ina manner as herein fully set forth and described.
2. The combination of the folded frame c a, bag L, and bottoni c c, as and for the purpose as herein fully set forth and described.
