. tain 1 new Curtain-Stretchers, of which the following qsa a m sonoivroiv, or YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO.
To all whom it may concern citizen of the United States of America, re-
siding at Youngstown, in the" county of-Mahoning and State of Ohioyhave invented cerand use ful f improvements in is a specification' 7 4 This invention relates to curtain stretchers, and hasfor its object the providing -of a stretcher economical of manufactureycoh lapsible, adjustable, and mounted upon a support stand in a horizontal position;
Another object of the invention is to provide two inner side member's, adjustably supported, provided with pins upon both the inner and outer edges of same.
Another object of the invention is to provide an L-iron as a supporting and fasten-L ing means for the inner ends of an end member of the frame.
A still further object is to provide a looking means for the other end member of the frame. r I i lVith these and other objects in view, this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention.
-Fig. 2 is a detail view showing means of locking inner ends of an endmember of the frame. Fig.
by numerals, it will be seen that the base of the support stand consists of a base support 1, upon this base support 1 is securely attached support stand legs 2 and 3. By referring to Fig. 1, it will be seen that these support stand legs are pivoted near their central portion by means of bolts 4. Upon the upper ends of said support stand legs 2,
are secured by means of hinges 5, the ends of the sides 6; to the support stand legs3 is pivoted by any suitable means an end member 7 of a rectangular frame. Upon the top of the ends of said end member 7 rests the other ends of the sides 6,.secured there-.
on by means of bolts 8.
The end member 9 of the rectangular frame is supported underneath the sides 6 by means of the adjustingbolts 10. By re- 3 is a detail view showing meansof securing the inner ends pf the other end' member of the frame. 7
Referring'to the accompanying drawings Q RIA I N-STRET CHER.
wing to Fig; 1a will'be sesame arena justing bolts project" through slots 11" in Specification of Letters lfitent, V Pgfljl ltefl 1920,.
- Application file'diFebr'uary 21,'1'92o:} serial 110 360544; i 2' the sides '6 ofthe rectangular frame, and
that'the end 9' is held in slidable relation to the sid'es 6. 7 It will. be seen that the sides 1 6"and' 't-he ends'7 and '9 are provided with pins"12; A pair of inner side members 13 V are adjustably secured,to;the end members 7 and 9'by means of slots ltand 15 therein and the adjusting bolts 16. It will beseen that the inner side me'mbers '13a're" provided with pins 17 upon their iinner and outer edges and that the adjusting bolts 1"6 pass through the slots' -18'of theinner side members13.-
lVhen it is desired to fold the device the locking arm 19 is pulled outwardly beyond the end of securing arm- 20, thereby releas- -ing the contact of the locking arm 19 with a securing arm 21. When; the key arm 22 is released from the staple 23, the inner end 26 of the end member 9 may be slipped inwardly from the support :24 of the L-iron 25, thereby withdrawing the staple from the slot 27., The end member 7 may noWbe folded downwardly upon .the hinge 28,
thereby allowing the base supports 1 to approachv each other and the side members 6 r and 6 to fold against each other.
What I claim is: r 1 1. In a device of the class described, a
folding support stand, a rectangular frame V hinged'to the upper ends of said support.
frame, side members of said frame provided with pins upon their inner edge, slots with- I in said side members, one end of said members resting upon an endlmember of frame,
the other hinged to upper ends of support stand, an end member provided with pins upon its inner edge, said 'end memberformed two equal lengths, an L-iron -secured to one end of said member, said L- iron carrying a key member, a slot in endv of said 'L-iron, a staple secured in end of the other end member so as to project through said slot when the two end members are placed end to end, said end members adjustably 7 above mentioned side members of frame, an
supported underneath end frame member hinged to upper ends of support stand, said end member provided with pins upon its inner edge, hinged at its central portion, said hinge secured upon the upper surface of said end members,ar
locking means for holding said end member in horizontal position, two adjustable inner side members, the same projecting a through slots in above mentioned end members, provided with pins upon both outer and inner edges, substantially as described for the purpose set forth.
2. In a device of the class described, having in combination With'a folding support stand, a rectangular frame hinged to the upper ends of said support frame, side members of said frame provided with pins upon their inner edge, slots Within said side members, one end of said members resting upon an end member of frame, the other hinged to upper ends of support stand, an
end memberprovided With pins upon its inner edge, said end member formedin two equal lengths, an L-lIOIl secured to one end of said members, said L-iron carrying a key member, a slot in end of said L-iron,. a staple secured in end of the other end member .so as to project through said slot when the two end members are placed end to end,
said'end members adjustably supported underneath above mentioned side members of frame, and end frame member hinged to upper ends of support stand, said end member providedwith pins upon its inner edge, hinged at; its central portion, said hinge-secured upon the upper surface of 'said end members,'-alocking 'means for holding'said end vmember in horizontal po- 1sition, tw o adjustable inner-side members, the same projecting through slots in above mentioned end members, provided "with pins upon both outer and inner edges, substantially as described for the purposeset forth.
3. Ina device of the class desoribed,{one
end of a rectangular frame hingedat-its centralportion, a locking bar secured to,
outer edge of'said end member, a securing" SERENA SOLOMON.
