To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK RUZICKA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain- Pole Brackets, of which the following is a specification. v

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in brackets and the primary object of the invention is to provide a new and improved type of bracket adapted to support a shade and curtain pole thereby combining the double use in one device, and the curtain pole support of this type of bracket is detachably connected with the shade supporting means, so that the same ma be used alone if desired.

nother obj ect of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is easily and simply constructed, inexpensive to manufacture, and one which will be very efcient in operation.

With these and numerous other obj ects in view, my invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be herein referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and claim.

In describing my invention, I shall refer to the drawings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

The numeral ldesignates the base plate of this type of bracket, said plate being formed preferably .of metal, and provided with a pair of apertures 2 therethrough, whereby securing screws or other fastening means may be positioned through the plate to securely connect the same with a support. One side of the base plateis provided with an integral arm 3 that projects therefrom at right angles and has its outer end notched as shown at 4 toA receive the gudgeon of a curtain shade roller.

The other side of the base plate 1 is provided with a tubular integral member 5 thereon which is formed by enlarging said side of the* plate, and rolling the same as' adjustably and removably anchored in the,

core 7 within the tubular member 5 to in consequence permit of the varying of the distance between the shade and pole supporting arms, as desired. This screw extension is connected securely with the arm 9 and extends at right angles therefrom as is clearly illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings.

In operation, when the various parts of` this bracket are assembled as is clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings, it is obvious that when the base plate is secured to the support the shade roller is adapted to be supported by the lower arm 3 while the upper arm 9 supports the curtain pole. This bracket will therefore combine in a single device means for supporting the roller and curtain pole. When it is desired to detach the pole supporting means it is only necessary to unscrew the portion 1l from the wooden core of the tubular member 5 whereby the plate and arm 3 may be used alone to support a shade. rlhe base plate, tubular extension, and arm 3 are all formed integral, and the wooden core is positioned within the tubular member 5 so as to allow the extension on the arm 9 to be easily attached or disconnected therefrom. l

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of thefconstruction, operation, and advantages of my invention may be had, and while I have shown and described the device as embodying a specific structure, I desire that it be understood that such changes may be made in said structure as do not departfrom the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
