I M. MACIEJKO ROLLER AND CURTAIN POLE SUPPORT H1011 llay 21. 1924 FIG. 1
Patented Nov. 17, 1925.
UNITED STATES ATEN om MICH EL MACIEJKO, or MEBIDEN, CONNECTICUT.
COMBINED SHADE-ROLLER AND CURTAIN-POLE SUPPORT.
Applioation'filcd May 21, 1924. 'Ser-ialNo. 7144831.
This-invention relates-to certain new and. useful improvements in combined shade roller and curtain pole supports wherein bracket plates adapted for 'mounting upon window frames support adjustable devices that carry shade rollers and curtain rods.
:Another object of the invention is toprovide' a curtain' rod support as an attachment fora shade roller bracket wherein the curv tain rod support and arm that supports the shade roller are relatively ,adjustable for varying the elevation oft-he curtainrod and v the shade roller with respect lto'each other and also for varying the relative length of the supporting members for the curtain rods and shade rollers.
With'theabove androther objects in view thatwillaappear. as the nature of the invention is better-understood, the same consists of the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully .described,-shown in the accompanying;drawing and claimed.
In the drawing, wherein .like' reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views,
Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a combined shade roller and curtain pole sup port constructed in accordance with the present invention, the curtain poles or rods and the shade roller being broken away,
Figure 2 is a fragmentary top plan view showing the bracket for supporting the shade roller and curtain rods mounted upon a window frame,
Figure 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view taken on line IIIIII of Fig. 1 showing the pin and slot connections to permit vertical adjustment of the plate supporting the ends of the curtain rods,
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the arm to which the curtain rod supporting plate is attached,
Figure 5 is a perspective view of themain mounting bracket for the supporting devices, and
'presentl Figure 6 is a perspective .view of one of the screwstuds constructed to prevent rotation thereof when in use.
Referring vmore in detail to the accompanying drawing, it being understood that the supporting devices for each end of the curtain rod and shade roller are 'ofident-ical construction, the'reference numeral 1 designates a bracket plate having ofiset end portions 2 provided with openings for the reception off-fastening devices, asill-ustrated in Fig. 2 for mounting the bracketplate 1 upon a window frame F. For-purposes to appear, the bracket :plate 1 is longitu tially ,the entire length ,thereof as illustrated in Fig. '5. i v I The shade roller 1 is supportedat its; opposite end in the bracket arms carried by upwardlydirected leg 'extensions fithat are twisted at right angles thereto while the arms 5 and extensions 6 are disposed at relative 'angles :as illustrated in Fig. '2 so that when the extension leg 6 is fiatly engagedwith therbracket plate 1, the bracket arms 5 extend outwardly from the window frame F as shown in Fig. 2. :The-,leg extensions 6 ofithe'bracket arms -5 are -longitudinally slotted as at .7 and traverse the bracket plates 1 at right angles a as shown in Fig. 1. i
Inwsecuring the bracket arms 5 to the bracket; plates 1,. a plate member including an arm 8 having an angle'lug extension 9' upon one end thereof is positioned in alinement with the bracket plate 1 with the lug extension 9 extended through the bracket plate opening 3 with the arm 8 overlying the leg extension 6 of the bracket arm 5, the arm 8 being provided with an opening 10 to accommodate the passage of a screw 11 of the type'illustrated in Fig. -6, the' screw 11 passing through the opening 10, and the slots 3 and 7 of the bracket plate and the leg extension 6. The head 12 of the screw is provided with a lug extension 13 that projects into the bracket plate slot 3 and the threaded end of the screw 12 receives a thumb nut 14 positioned outwardly of the arm 8 as shown in Fig. 1 for holding the bracket arms 5, the arms 8 and bracket plates 1 in relatively adjusted positions.
The outer end of the arm 8 carries a cross head 15 having a longitudinally exnally slotted as at,3 for substantending slot 16 at each end thereof, the ends of the. cross head 15 projecting above and below the outer ends of the bracket plate 1.
A plate 17 of the type best illustrated in Fig. 1 is provided with openings 18 adja cent the upper and lower edges thereof that register with the slotted openings 16 in the cross head and screws 11 of the type illustrated in Fig. 6 have the lug extensions 12 thereof extended into the head slots 16 with the threaded ends of the screws projecting through the openings 18 for the reception of thumb nuts 14. Studs 19 are carried by the plate 17 in spaced longitudinal alinement and are constructed for a snap engagement with the opposite ends of the extensible curtain rods 20 as shown in Fig. 2.
From the above detail description of the device, it is believed that the construction and operation thereof will at once be apparent, it being noted that by the screwand slot connection between the leg extensions 6 of the shade roller supporting bracket arms and the bracket plates 1, the elevation for supporting the shade roller 4 may bevaried and the shade roller bracket arms are also adjusted for supporting shade rollers of different lengths. The provision of the plate. member including the arm 8 and cross head at the outer end thereof provides a support for the plate member 17 that carries the studs for supporting the ends of the curtain rods and said plates 17 are vertically adjustable as well as being longitudinally adjustable by being mounted upon the arms 8 so that proper overhanging end relations of curtains with respect to a window shade may be accomplished.
While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed as new is 1. In a combined shade roller andcurtain pole support, a longitudinally slotted bracket plate, an arm slidable on the plate and having an opening the-rein registering with the plate, an angle lug extenson on one end of the arm projecting into the bracket plate slot, a stud screw passing through the arm, opening and plate slot and cooperating with the arm lug to hold the arm horizontally 4 alined with the bracket plate, a lug on the stud screw entering the plate slot to prevent rotation thereof, a thumb nut on the other end of the screw. a shade roller support clamped between the bracket plate and arm and a curtain pole support at the outer end of the arm. In a combined shade roller and curtain pole support, a longitudinally slotted bracket plate, an arm slidable on the plate and having an opening therein registering with the plate, an angle lug extension on one end of the arm projecting into the bracket plate slot, a stud screw passing through the arm, opening and plate slot and cooperating with the arm lug to hold the arm horizontally alined with the bracket plate, a lug on the stud screw entering the plate slot to prevent rotation thereof, thumb nut on the other end of the screw, a shade roller support including a slotted arm vertically positioned between the bracket plate and aforesaid arm with the stud screw passing through the slot thereof, a forwardly directed angular extension carried by the slotted arm for supporting a shade roller and a curtain polesupport at the outer end of the first named arm.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
MICHAEL MACIEJKO.
