To all whom it may, concern:

Be it known that I, CnLus'rrA M. WiNN, a citizen of the United States, residin at ll atonga, in the county of Elaine and tate of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Beds, of which the followin is a specification.

This invention relates to beds and the principal object of the invention is to provide means for adding an extension to the bed for accommodating one or more extra persons.

Another object of the invention is to provide means whereby the extension may be placed under the bed when not in use.

The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In these views 1 indicates the bed which consists of the head part 52 and the foot part 3 connected together by the side rails 4. I prefer that the side rails be of angle form and these rails receive the bed springs, as usual.

frame has pivoted thereto the legs 9 so that said legs may be swung upwardly against the side rail when the extension frame is to be placed under the bed. The legs are held in folded position by means of the catches 9. Each side of the extension frame is pro vided with a pair of downwardly projecting parts 10 which are provided with the casters 11 so that when the legs 9 are swung upwardly against the frame and the frame detached from the bed rail and pushed under the bed, the casters will engage the floor as shown in Fig. l. The legs 9 as well as the legs of the bed may be provided with the customary casters. The extension frame is adapted to support the usual bed springs and these springs may be detachably connected with the springs on the bed by means of hooks 9 I provide a mattress for the bed and extension which'is formed of two parts 13 and It, as shown in 5. Each of these parts are provided with the flaps 15, which are of triangular shape with their bases connected with the ed es of the two parts. The flaps are alternately arranged on the two parts so that when the two parts of the mattress are placed together the flaps on one part will lie between a pair of flaps on the other part. The flaps on one part are secured to the other part by means of buttons and button holes 16 or any other suitable fastening means.

It will be seen that the extension may be easily put in position to provide a double bed which will be just as comfortable as the ordinary double bed. When not in use the extension may be easily detached and placed under the bed to be out of the way.

Having described my invention what I claim is In combination with a bed having slots in one side rail, an extension frame having staples on one of the side rails and engaging said slots, hooks carried by the side rail of the bed for engaging said staples, legs pivotally connected with the outer side of the extension frame and. adapted to be swung upwardly against the end pieces of the extension frame, catches for holding said legs in folded position and rollers on the side rails of the extension frame for permitting the said extension frame to be rolled under the bed when not in use.
