Be it known that I, RANsoM E. BEcKwrTtr.-

State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useful or Improved Sash-Fastenin g; and do hereby declare the same -to be fully described in the following specification and repf resented 4in the accompanying drawing, of

Fig. 4 is 1 a. view of it with the ease-cap removed, the jsame showing the arrangement of the two :bolts and their actuatingspring. Fig. 5 denotes the arrangement of the fastening relatively to a window-frame, I, its two sashes K L, and the parting-tongue M of the next-couvtiguous grooves of such sashes.

.n Speciicationvforming part of Letters Patent No. 133,9l6, dated December v17, 1872.

The heads of the knobs --may be sunk in a groove or grooves iiush with the windowframe so as not to 'interfere with the movements of a windowshade, or those of a wire screen when used to the window.

Instead of the spring applied to act upon the bolts, as shown, there may be a friction brake or spring to each bolt, in which case the bolt would have to be moved each way by the knob or by the key.

I claim as my invention- 1. -The sash fastener or lock, as made with the perforated bolt carrying projection B, to extend into and make part of the partingtongue of two sash-grooves, as set forth, and with the two bolts D E arranged with the said projection and in the lock-case A, in manner, and so as to operate substantially as set forth.

2. The two bolts D E, the abutments c f, the spring F, the bolt-case A, and the partingtongue portion or projection B, combined and arranged substantially as specified.
