holder wherein the knife blade is positively. locked in operative position. A further object is to provide a knife holder wherein the knife blade is adj ustably held 111 operative position and effectually locked against play or against accidental d1splacement. A further object is to provide a holder wh ch permits only the cutting edge of the kn fe to touch the plate, thus reducing the friction and reducing the operating power necessary. A further object is to provide a knife holder that is very simple n construction, strong, durable and practically everlasting and that is cheap to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other ob ects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be herein after fully described, pointed out 1n the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification and in wh1ch Figure 1 is a plan may of my 1mproved knife holder provided with blades.

The reference numeral 1 denotes the hub of the holder body substantially circular in shape and formed with the approximately square opening 2 to permit it to be fitted to the end of a shaft or the like. From the said hub the integral arms 3, spaced substantially 90 apart, radiate. Each arm 3 is formed with a longitudinally extending inclined groove 4 and upon one side of said groove a perforation 5 extends entirely through the arm 3, said perforation upon one side of the arm opening into a circular depression 6 adapted to receive the head 7 ss P TEN OFFICE. i v

The said screw 7 a extends through the perforation 5 and is formed with a bent termination 9 adapted to lie in the groove 8, said bent termination extending through the perforation 10 formed in the blade 11 which blade is adapted to be seated in the said longitudinal groove 4. It will be noted that the head 7 of the screw 7 is separate from the screw and is threaded interiorly for engagement with the straight threaded end of the screw. When the blade .11 is. in its groove 4 and in engagement with the screw 7. The bent end 9 of the screwis disposed in one end of the groove 8 and as the screw is drawn into its head 7 the said end is moved deep into the groove 8 which groove is of such size as to prevent any movement or play of the screw thus effectually preventing longitudinal movement or play of the blade in the holder. 1 When the blade is in position in the holder its cutting edge extends beyond the plane of the adjacentface of the arm 3 thus permitti'ngthe cutting edge only of the knife to contact with the cutter platein the chopper.

In a knife' holder, a body portion having spaced armsirad'iating therefrom, each of said arms being formed with a longitudinally extending knife-receiving groove, with a perforation extending through said 7 arm upon one side ofsaid groove and with a transverse groove connecting said perforation and said longitudinal groove, a screw head disposed in one end of said perforation, and a screw body adjustably connecting said screw head, said screw body being disposed in the said perforation and in the said transverse groove and engaging the knife.
