SACK AND THE LIKE.
Application filed March 28.
v the sacks at the opening it has been proposed to provide the sack with an interior funnel or tubing of soft material which is folded together over the opening of the sack and closes said opening without tying on account of the pressure of the material filled into the sack. In these known contrivances, however, the sacks must have a special and complicated form whereby the practical use of the same is rendered diflicult, as sacks of an ordinary make cannot be used.
011 the contrary, if according to the present invention the said tubing or funnel of soft material is arranged in combination with an annular frame, that easily may be removed from the sack and is made of stifi material, and eventually with a stiff funnel in said frame forming an extension of the soft funnel, the arrangement may be used for sacks of the ordinary type. Further the advantage is gained that the frame carrying the funnels may serve as a sack holder for the purpose of preventing the opening of the sack from falling together at the filling operation which is very important when the sacks are filled in a mechanical way. When using the invention it is not necessary to tie the sacks immediately after the filling operation, as the tying can take place later at any time in the usual way after the apparatus has been removed. As the opening of the sack by the stiif frame always is kept open it will sometimes be necessary to arrange a grating over the frame, said grate being of such a nature that it does not impede the filling operation but prevents the soft funnel or tubing from being pressed Specification of Letters Patent.

out through the opening of the frame, if the sack is upset.
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 shows the filling end of the sack with the apparatus attached thereto in a vertical section. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the frame.
According to the invention the ordinary sack 1 is combined with an annular frame 2, for instance by means of spring-holders or the like. This frame carries the funnel 3 that is made of a soft material. The funnel 3 is, however, preferably not directly fastened to the frame but connected with a funnel 4 of a rigid material, as shown in the drawing, and the latter funnel is in a suitable way connected with the frame 2.
In order to prevent the funnel 3 from be ing pressed out through the lower opening of the funnel 4 by the pressure of the material when the sack is upset a grate 5 may, if desired, be provided in a suitable place of the funnel 4. This grate may consist, as shown in the drawing, of two bars crossing each other and placed in the lower opening of the funnel l. It is not necessary, that these bars are rigid as they also may be made of ribbons of a soft material or of threads.
Having thus described the invention, I claim The combination with an annular frame provided at its top and bottom with outwardly extending flanges to form an annular channel to receive the folded upper end of a bag to which the frame is attached, the frame having an internal downwardly extended funnel provided at its small end with cross bars, and a flexible tubular element attached to the small end of the funnel and depending therefrom, whereby if a bag to which the frame is attached should tilt over the flexible tubular element will lie on the cross bars and prevent the contents of the bag spilling.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GUSTAF TROLLE-BONDE.
