Description

B. MpBASTl AN.
Improvement in Apparatus for Cooling and Dispensing Liquids on Draft. I
No. 132,430, Patented Oct. 22,1872,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BARTHELD M. BASTIAN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN APPARATUS FOR COOLING AND DISPENSING L'IQUIDS 0N DRAFT.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,430, dated October 22, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BARTHELD M. BAS- TIAN, of New York, New York, a citizen of the United States, temporarily resident in the city of Havana, island of Cuba, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Cooling and Dispensing Liquids, such as soda-water, mineral-water, and may be used for cooling other liquids made and dispensed on draft and I hereby declarethe following to be a full and exact description of the same, taken in connection with the accompanying sheet of drawing which forms part of this specification.
' This invention I call a suspension apparatus, and differs from that ordinarily employed in having the cooling-vessel suspended on columns, so that the draft-faucet is placed underneath, at the bottomof the ice-chamber, so that the liquid is always drawn from the coldest part of the ice-chamber or cooler, which is always covered by ice as long as any remains in the chamber.
The following description will enable others to make and use my invention. 4
In the drawing, A and B are the supportingcolumns. D is the ice-chamber, and O the pipe which conveys the soda-water or other liquid to be cooled as drawn. E is the coverto the ice-chamber, and F the coiled pipe passing through the ice-chamber so as to be cooled. G is'the draft-faucet immediately beneath the cooling-chamber. H is one bearing, and K the other, the latter being hollow so as to permit the pipe 0 to pass through to the coil F. The whole rests on a counter or table, M. The icechamber D is, and its cover E may be, made of non-conducting material or protected with non-conducting materials so as to prevent loss of the cooling efi'ects of the ice or other cooling mediums.
This apparatus is very simple in construction and economical in its working, and is applicable to the cooling and dispensing of all beverages on draft.
I do not limit myself to the exact form of apparatus shown, as this may be varied.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. The improved suspended liquid cooling and dispensing apparatus, having the draftfaucet beneath, substantially as shown.
2. The combination of the supports A B, pipe 0, chamber D, and coil F, as specified.
3. The vessel D, suspended in bearings H K, with faucet G, arranged and combined substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 12th day of August, 1872,in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
BARTHELD M. BASTIAN.
