IMPROVEMENT lN- BEER-C OOLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,850, dated June 13, 1871.
I, GEORGE M. HASZINGER, of Vicksburg, in the county of Warren and State of Mississippi, have invented certain Improvements in Beer- Ooolers, of which the following is a specification:
Nature and Object of the Invention.
My invention relates to the combination of ice and powdered charcoal in such a manner that the said ice and charcoal shall be capable of cooling beer or other liquid with which it may come in contact; the object of this part of my invention being to greatly reduce the quantity of ice consumed when compared with the different styles of apparatus now in use for this purpose, and also for keeping the liquid acted upon at a more uniform degree of temperature.
Description of the Accompanying Drawing.
Figure 1 is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 a plan of the same; Fig. 3, a longitudinal section; Fig. 4, a transverse section.
General Description.
the air contained in the cooler escapes when being filled; G, a pipe through which the beer is drawn; H, a box to contain the ice; I, a
space extending entirely around it, in which can be set bottles, &c., when desired to be kept cool; J, a space all around the outside and bottom, which is filled with powdered charcoal or other non-conductor of heat. This space can be made wide or narrow, according to the size of apparatus. The space D may be divided into four compartments, as shown by the dotted lines in' the drawing. Each of these compartments may be fitted with a receiving and discharge pipe, thus rendering it convenient to cool and draw a variety of liquors from the one apparatus.
The liquor to be cooled is introduced through the pipe which is shown at-the right hand in Figs. 1 and 3 through this pipe it passes into the reservoir D, where it comes in contact with a plate, a, which forms the bottom of ice-box H. This reservoir is always kept full from a supply which should be placed a slight distance above it. The beer is drawn from this reservoir into glasses through the pipe and faucet G.
Claims.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combination of the ice-box H and the reservoir D and waste-pipe B, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbeiore set forth.
2. The combinatiomwith the ice-box. H and reservoir 1) and waste-pipe B, of the spaces I and J, substantially as and for the purpose hereinbefore set forth.
GEORGE M. HASZINGER.
