UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JULIUS MANNY 00mm, or BLOOMFIELD, IOWA.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 127,958, dated June 18, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
I, JULrUs MANNY COHEN, of Bloomfield, Iowa, have made a new and useful Improvement in Refrigerators, &c., of which thefollowing is a specification:
The object of this invention is to make an ice-box or refrigerator for family use for cooling food, 850., and arranged to furnish cooled soda-water. The apparatus is made substantially as herein set forth, referring to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section of the apparatus.
The apparatus is made with an internal chamber, A, for ice, surrounded on the sides by double or non-conducting walls B B B This is lined with sheet metal to retain the moisture, and the drip goes 01f by the pipe 0. Under the chamber A is a chamber, D, for keeping food, &c., cool. Inside the chamber A is a barrel, E, of wood or other suitable material, and of suitable shape, for soda-water. This is charged in the ordinary or other suitable manner, and is surrounded by the ice in chamber A and kept cool. From the barrel E a faucet, F, projects for drawing 0E the aerated water for use. This faucet F is arranged so that it may be unscrewed or other wise removed so the barrel may be taken out and cleaned when desired. There are no com-' plex or long pipes which cannot be cleaned, so the whole apparatus through which the soda-water passes may be cleaned and kept in a state of purity, giving a healthful beverage. At G are metal, glass, or other vessels for containing sirup for use with the soda-water. These have faucets H projecting to draw the sirup off by. Any suitable number of these vessels may be arranged, side by side, across the apparatus, for difl'erent flavors of syrup. The lid I covers the whole apparatus, and enables access to be had to all parts except the chamber D, which is reached by door K in the side. The lid and door may be double, or have a dead-air space inclosed, or be other wise made non-conducting. Thevchamber D may be arranged to suit its use, and lined in any way.
I claim- The'combination of the refrigerating-cham ber D, the cooling-chamber A, and the sodawater apparatus E, arranged with apartments and apparatus for supplying flavoring-extracts in connection therewith, substantially as set forth.
