and useful Improvements in Vests, of which 1 the following is a description, reference be ing had to the accompanying drawings,
which are a part of this specification.
The present invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vests, and has for its primary object to provide means carried by the vest and engaging the trousers near their top for supporting the same at the front where they are most apt to sag, and to retain the shirt from riding over the trouser top.
Another object of this invention is to provide means carried by the vest and having a detachable connection with the trousers whereby the vest will be maintained in its proper position and at all times present a smooth front. A further object of this invention is to providea vest having a tab secured to the inner side thereof adjacent one corner of the lower pocket so that the corner stitches of the pocket will provide an additional securing means for the tab Where the strain thereon is greatest, and to also provide a button connection between the tab and a lower garment.
Vith the above and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, my invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts substantially as hereinafter described and more particularly defined by the appended claims, it being understood that such changes in the precise embodiment of the hereindisclosed invention may be made as come within the scope of the claims.
In the accompanying drawing, I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention con- .structed accordingto the best mode I have so far devised for the practical application of the principles thereof, and in which:
Figure 1 is a view of my invention in use with one side of the vest turned back and the tab disconected for the purpose of illustration. I
Fig. 2 is a front plan view of the lower half of one side of a vest embodying my invention, and
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 of the Specification of Letters Patent.

inner side of the vest illustrating the manner of securing the tab to the vest.
Referring now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, 5 designates a vest of the usual construction having therein lower pockets 6; 7 designates a pairof trousers; and 8 a tab carried by the vest and having a detachable connection with the trouser top as will be later described.
The tale 8 is secured to the inner side of the vest preferably adjacent the inner corner of each pocket 6 by means of stitching 9 near the top thereof. The stitching 9, as best shown in Fig. 2, is invisible from the outside of the vest, and as best shown in Fig. 8, the tab 8 is further secured to the vest by means of the stitching 10 located at the inner corner of the pocket and which extends through the vest and the tab 8. The stitching 10 engages the tab 8 on a line with a button hole 11 located near its lower end and adapted to engage the button 12 carried by the trousers, and thus of the vest in a smooth, unrumpled condi-' tion.
What I claim as my invention is 1. In a garment. support of the class described, the combination with an upper garment having a pair of lower pockets provided with stitches near each corner and a lower garment, of a tab secured to themner side of'the upper garment centrally of the stitching of one corner of each pocket, said stitching passing through the tab to reinforce the same, and a detachable button connection between said tab and the lower garment.
2. As an article of manufacture, a vest, having a lower pocket provided near each corner with reinforcing stitching arranged substantially vertical, a tab secured to'the inner side of the vest by substantially horizontally extending stitches, said tab being disposed adjacent one corner of the pocket 7 so that the reinforcing stitches ofthe pocket corner pass through the tab at its point where the strain is greatest, and means at scribed comprising' a tab secured to an upper garment adJacent the upper lnner corner of a pocket therein, T-shaped stitchlng secur- 10 ing thetab to said garment, the top horizontalportion of the T being adjacent the top of the tab and the vertical leg portion of the T being centrally of said talc and providing corner stitching for adjacent corner of the pocket, and means for securing the lower end of the tab to a lower gar-.
ment.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
