IMPROVEMENT IN OVER GAiTER-SHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 131,862, dated October 1, 1872.
i the over gaiter-shoe for which Letters Patent 'No. 113,149 were granted to me on the 28th day of March, 1871; and I accomplish this object, first, by perforating that portion of the vamp or tongue A of the shoe which is concealed beneath the loose, gaiter-flap B with a number of holes, a, as best observed in Figure l; and, second, by securing a loose gaiter-flap to the rear portion of the body D of the shoe by rubber-cloth gussets E, as plainly shown in Fig. 2. w i
Air can` gain access to thefperforations a beneath the loose gaiter-ilap, and can pass thence to the interior of thel shoe for the purpose of Ventilating the same; and the said perforations also render the vamp very pliable and self-accommodating to the instep.
By adopting the rubber-cloth gussets E for the gaiter-ilap, the usual buttons or laces may be dispensed with, and the said flap is rendered self-accommodating'with the perforated vamp to the shape of the instep and movements of the foot.
I claim as my invention- 1. The combination, substantially as described, of the perforated tongue or vamp A with the loose gaiter-,ap B.
2. A loose gaiter-ilap secured to the body of a shoe by rubber-cloth gussets E, substantially as and for the purpose described.
