M M /0 C In ventor Hare/d R Leonard HAROLD R. LEONARD, OF STILLWATER, MINNESOTA.
HOLDER FOR MILK-RECORD CARDS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 30, 1919.
Application filed May 4, 1917. Serial No. 166,332.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HAROLD R. LEONARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Stillwater, in the county of ashington and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Milk-Record Cards, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to holders for milk record cards and has for its object to provide convenient and efficient apparatus to be attached to the wall of a creamery or central receiving station or barn for holding and protecting a record card on which the amounts of milk received from various customers or cows may be recorded from day to day.
It is a special object of my invention to provide a simple and eflicient cabinet having fixed back, top and side walls together with means for attaching the same to the wall of the building, and means for attachably holding the milk record card upon the inside of the rear wall in combination with a front cover wall slidably carried upon the cabinet proper which protects the same and may be moved down any desired distance to expose the various parts of the record card upon which it may be desired to make a record.
The full objects and advantages of my in vention will appear in connection with the detailed description and are particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, illustrating the application of my invention in one form,
Figure 1 is a part perspective elevational view of my invention in position with the cover partly lowered. Fig. 2 is a side view partly in section. Fig. 3 is a sectional top plan view.
As illustrated a casing 10. preferably of sheet metal, is secured to the wall 11 by means of screws or other fastening means 12. The casing is provided with a rear wall 13, top wall 14. and side walls 15 and 16 which are turned inwardly to provide flanges 17 18 that are connected at their upper ends with the top wall 14. A pair of clips 19. 20 provide means for conveniently engaging and holding the record card 21 upon the inside of the back wall 13 of the casing 10. A cover member 22 has side walls or flanges 23, 24 which register adjacent the side walls 15 and 16 of the casing so as to bring the end portions of the cover 22 beneath the flanges 17 and 18. Friction springs 25 and 26 are secured to flanges 17 and 18 and engage the cover 22 so as to hold the same in any adjustable position and yet permit ready sliding thereof which is effected by a handle 27 secured to the face of the cover 22. The cover 22 is provided with a bottom wall 28 so that when the cover is slid up into the position shown in Fig. 2 it, with the top 14, completely incloses the record card 13. This construction therefore may be used upon the outside wall of a building, where the receiving platform for weighing in the milk purchased is customarily located.
The advantages of my invention will be obvious. The record sheet is effectively housed when it does not need to be exposed for making the record thereon, such exposure being instantly and efficiently effected by merely pushing down of the handle 27. After the record is made the cover can at once be slid back, thus keeping the record card housed at all times excepting during those periods when records are made thereon.
I claim;
1. A record holder comprising a casing having top, back and side walls, the side walls being provided with inwardly extended flanges, means for removably holding a record card upon the back wall, and a cover spaced from said record and slidably engaging and held positioned by said flanges, said cover having side walls movable within the side walls of the casing and inside of the flanges.
2. A record holder comprising a casing having interconnected top, back and side walls. the side walls being provided with inwardly extended flanges, means for removably holding a record card upon the inside of the back wall, and a cover spaced from said record and slidably engaging and held positioned by said flanges, said cover having side walls movable within the side walls of the casing and inside of the flanges, and a bottom wall secured to said cover for completely housing the record card when the cover is moved upwardly.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
HAROLD R. LEONARD.
