APPLICATION FILI-1Dl MAY I9, 1919.
Patented Aug. 26,"1919- 2 SHEET SHEET 2.
i, isili@ ETAGHAELE EL .um :summa Application le. 1.3,
To all whom it mfr/y concern "Be it known that l, REINHARD L. HEEREN, n citizen oi the United States, and e resident of the borough of Brooklyn, count*V7 of Kings, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Detachable Reversible Cuffs, o which the follcmring is e gpecicetien.
l/Vhile applicable to the'leeves of 'other geit-mente, my improvements are {lesigned more particularly for use in connection with shirts, Weists, ete., mede of rele-tively Soft, uneterehed materiel, :in-i Where one part of each @n folds haelt over enti outside the part thereof which ie attached te the slee-Ve. Theinein object of my inventien is to afford Simple but effective Ineens Wheren by the ans are rendered conveniently (le, tacheble, reversible, and interchangeable, While presenting when attached to the sleeves, the appearance of beingintegrali therewith, En other Words, positively conl cenl the fect,`in se far as outward appearence is concerneil, that the cnfe are not permanently ettachecl to th'e sleeves, giving thev effect of e unitary structure.
The invention consists in the specific e0nstruction and arrangement of parts herein described and claimed', a. distinctive feature being the provision of sleeve flaps adapted to conceal the ineens of attachment between the sleeve wrist leende and the fieteehahle cuffs, all as hereinafter more 'fully set forth.
In accompanying drawings,
Figure l, is :i YView oft the exterior of CUL as attached to the sleeve wrist beveel, the parte being Shown flat for convenience of ilnstretion;
Fig.. 2, is a similar View with the cuff unfolded and showing the concealment fliege overlzipping'the cuff attaching menne;

I Fig. 5, is e like View of the cnil' showing" the use of slit button holes for engagement with the Stud buttons on the sleeve Wrist. hand;
Fig. G, s ,showing the 'en enlerged sectional detail I' premised censtrectien et the Spe'ee'tion of Letters lfntent.
'-my invention, Since seid,
eieeve Wrist hfn end eenceelnient im; of e single piene ogt niet@ 7, is :t Sii' i 'teil illu f eerily and eorrelaty parte ie applied to 'the sleeve Wrist eend.
As shown in the accompanying treni the coneeelingg: 'Een A, and the Wrist B, are i'ormee of n single nienIk n although this` not :in eesentif cene may eonsiet of e suitable Wi` of lnetei'el' independently Sleeiile, 'he bend is three nl consisting of terminal niei'gi S, of Sleeve S, and of the overlapping; and inelos ing; inner end enter elfls b", the henri proper .Bf-$52, 53, regnesenting the stitehingg by which the parte are secured tog-ether, the
line of stitching f, in the present onse alsov passing through the inner edge of the cenceelingap A. rihe width of the said con-' eenling liep A, is greater than 'that of the sleeve Wrist bend B, so that when folded over theietter its free edge c5., beyond the outer edge e' seid band B, :is Shown in S enel 7. Fretrnding from the enter fece or feld 'ff/,o the Wrist bend B, are at series of Stud buttons atteeheclrto the said eend in any suitable n'i::,nnei maf he found moet expeiein.` These stud but? tons 5*, (5*, are of cel'zrse concealed by the liep A, when the letter is folded ovl" the Wrist "eend B. a', the line of stitching Securing the intnrneil enter edges of cenceeling flap A.. The ens a, a2, of 'the letter are sloped obliqueljy" anal eonvergently inward centrally from the ibase iine of attachment te the Sleeve S, so as effen?. 'convenient access to tf usuel en' link or button. holes c, c, in the body o the en' C, aft-ei. the let-ter hee been ettechee to the wrist bend B. the eleeve S, Wi i under-steed more partici: Mij! by ference to Fie'- 2, of the (trainings, by W2 u be @een that s ifi enti' button heies fully exposed beyond the ends ef the A, Whereas the 'eend Stud buttons fa, the ooincidentn enf' cx., c, with wine/ii they engage :ire ee//ere the a;- when the saif iep folde ever the Wrist band E.
The cui? C, Figs. E3, l, emi greet/c? with lth enel length' ettuched to r is it'olrlehle on the line f,
the inner fold c3, of the culi C, provided for engagement with the stud buttons b", o",
of the Wrist band B, may be either of the socket type indicated in Fig. 4,' or may be of the slit form of button hole indicated in Fig. 5, as may be preferred, the action and result beingthesame inmeitiyie'i case in that suitable provisionis made for ldetachably securing the cufi'-C, to the sleeve S. Where metallic button holes 0X, are used as in Fig. 4, they either extend through the cuff, like eyelets, or are duplicated on each face thereof. And in this connection it may be stated that While I herein show the stud buttons bias positioned on the sleeve Wrist band B, and the coinciding button holes cx, c, on the cuff, it is obvious that thev alternativev arrangement may be resorted to if preferred, ywith like results,-z`. e., the stud buttons b", may be aiXed to the cuff C, and
coinciding button holes C", may be formed oh the Wristband B, so that I do not limit myself in this respect, the essential feature being the provision of interlocking' means Wherebythe cuff may be attachedv to the Wrist band substantially as set foi-thi` The lateral edges 03, of the inner fold c2,
of the 'cuft C, are preferably curved or inclined inward as 'shown in, Figs. 2, 4f and 5, soy astofbe Well Within the circumferential edgeof -the outer Afold, c', when the latter is positioned as ig 1, thereby attainingk a neat-.and'symmetrlcal' external appearance nemesis The advanta es of'my detachable, revern sible,and intero 1angeable-.-cuif will be readily understood; and the function of the concealing .Hap A, in affording the appearance, eXternali} of an integral structure of cuff and sleeve, is an additional beneit attained by my invention which will be fully appreciated by the user.
vWhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
l. In combination, a sleeve the Wrist band of which is formed With a plurality of fastening means, a detachable foldable and reversible cuff, a plurality of coincidental fastening means thereon adapted to engage from either side of the cuff With the said fastening means on the sleeve Wrist band, and a flap attached to the sleeve and. adapted to fold over and conceal said sleeve and culia securing means, for the purpose described.
2. In combination, 'a'sleeve the Wrist band of which is formed with a plurality of fastening means, a detachable -foldable and lreversible cuff, a plurality of coincidental fastening means thereon adapted to engage from either side of the culi" with the said fastening means on the sleeve Wrist band,
and a flap attached to the sleeve and adapted to fold over and conceal said sleeve and cuff securing means, said concealing flap being formed W-ith sloping centrally convergent end edges for the purpose described.. i REINHARD L. HEEREN.
