UNITED STATES arana JOSEPH GRUBER. OF MILWAUKEE. WISCONSIN.
winnow-vnlvrrtnron.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH GRUBER, a citizen of the United States, residinngkat Milwaukee, in the county of Milwa ee and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Window-Ventilator, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to storm window ventilators and has as its principal object to provide a ventilator wh1ch w1ll be opened upon the lowering of the mner window and which will be closed upon the raising of the same.
Another object is to provide a ventilator which may be applied to any storm wlndow construction and which will allow a maximum of air to enter the room,the ventilator being of such construction to make it unnecessary to materially alter the window construction.
Another object of the invention is to provide a storm window ventilator which is simple in construction, which consists of few parts, and which can be manufactured and sold at a minimum'cost.
With the above and other general objects and advantages in View, the invention consists of the combinations of elements, arrangements of parts, constructions and operations, and general assemblage,all of which will be fully set forth hereinafter and recited in the appended claims, one form of the invention being illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein;
Figure 1 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view of a storm window embodying my invention, the device being in position to close the ventilating opening in the storm window;
Fig. 2 is a like view, the device being shown in opened position;
Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the same;
Fig. 4 is a view like Fig. 1 showing the lower portion of the window; and
Fig. 5 is a like view showing the window in raised position and the ventilator open.
Referring to the drawing wherein like characters of reference designate like parts on all the views the numerals 5 and 6 designate the inner vertically movable windows while 10 denotes the outer storm sash.
The top and bottom rails of the storm Specification of Letters Patent.

rails of the storm sash and is adapted to close the openings in the sash 10 and prevent the ingress of air therethrough.
Depending from each of these doors ll are chains 15 which are attached to the upper and lower bars of the window sashes 5 and 6 respectively.
Coiled springs 17 are mounted adjacent the doors 15 each of which have one end extended laterally and positioned against the doors to normally urge the same to closed position.
From this disclosure it will be apparent that upon the raising of-the sash 6 and the lowering of the sash 5 the doors 14 will be moved to open position to allow air to pass through the openings in the rails of the sash 10 and that upon moving the sashes to closed position the doors 14; will be also moved to closed position through the medium of the springs 17.
This disclosure shows the preferred c011- struction, but it is to be understood that the same may be modified in many respects and that my limits of such modification are only governed by the appended claims.
What is claimed is 1. The combination with a storm sash having an opening therein, and a vertically movable sash, of a door hinged to the storm sash and normally closing the opening, means operatively connecting the door and the movable sash for opening the door upon moving the sash away from the door, and a coil spring positioned below the door and bearing against the latter and urging the same to a position to close the opening upon moving the sash toward the door.
2. The combination with a stationary storm sash having a longitudinal opening therein, and a vertically movable sash, of a door hinged to the storm sash and adapted to close the opening, a flexible element con nected with the vertically movable sash and with the door whereby the door is opened upon the moving of the sash in one direction, and resilient means for urging the door to closed position upon the moving of the sash in the opposite direction.
3. The combination with a storm window having1 a longitudinal opening therein, a door inged to the storm window and adapted to close the opening, a flexible element having one end attached to the door and its opposite end operatively connected In testimony thatI claim the foregoing as with a Vertically movable Window whereby iny own I have hereto affixecl my signature moving the window in one cllrectlon the in the presence of two w1tness'es.-
window will open the door, and a coil spring 7 JOSEPH GRUBER. mounted adjacent the doorhaving one end Witnesses:
laterally extended to bear against the door PETER GRUBER,
to normally urge the same to closed position. O'r'ro T. SALIOK.
