WRIST-WAT CH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 15, 1919.
Application filed April 16, 1918. Serial No. 228,957.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, REGINAID H. KNYVE'I'I,
a subject of the King of England, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Wrist-Watches,of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to devices for supporting a watch on the wrist of the person, and its object is to provide a novel and improved support for the watch which is so constructed that the watch is effectually protected from breakage, exposure to the elements, etc.
The object stated is attained by means of a combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed, and in order that the same may be better understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.
In the drawing,
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, and
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the device open to expose the watch.
Referring speclfically to the drawing, 5 denotes the pocket or pouch of the conventional form in which is housed the watch 6. The pocket is open on one side to leave the face of the watch exposed, this openi being defined by an annular facing strip 7 having diametrically opposite outstanding tongues 8 and 9, respectively. The tongue 8 is fitted with one of the members 10 of a pair of separable fasteners, such as ordinary glove clasps or sna s, the other member 11 of which is carri by another part to be presently described.
The open side of the pocket 5 is provided with a cover 12 of leather or other suitable material, to protect the exposed face of the watch 6. The cover has an extension which laps the ton e 9 and in the lapping parts are alined sfi ts 13 through which is passed the strap 14 by which the device as attached to the ersons wrist. This strap also asses throug a slot 15 in cover diametrical y op posite the first-mentioned slots, and the two ends of the strap are connected back of the cover by a buckle or other suitable adjustable strap fastening device 16. The slots are so positioned that the strap is attached to the cover clear of that portion of the latter 16. The cover 12 is now next to the wrist 5 and the pocket 5 isnext to the cover 12, with its open side facing the latter and covered thereby. The fasteners 10 and 11 being connected, the pocket is held snugly against the cover, and when it is desired to view the watch, it is necessary only to disconnect the fasteners, which leaves the pocket free to be swung outward of the cover to expose the watch. The strap 14 provides a loose connection between the pocket and the cover, so that the former may be swung as stated.
I claim: A support for a wrist watch comprlslng a watch-supporting pocket open on one side to expose the face of the Watch toward the wrist, diametrically opposite outstanding tongues extending from the openside of the pocket, a cover for. said side of the pocket,
a wrist stra passing through the cover and also throug one ofthe tongues to provide a loose connection between the cover of the pocket, and separable fastener members on the other tongue and on the strap.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
REGINALD H. KNYVETT.
