To'all whom. it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANNIE M. CLARK, citizen of the United States, resident of St. Cloud, county of Stearns, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cook-Books, of which the following is a specification.

My-invention relates to that type of cook book having blank leaves on which the recipes are Written when they have been tested and approved by the housekeeper or cook. In keeping such a book, there is nearly always an accumulation of loose sheets with recipes written thereon or clippings from newspapers containin recipes which the cook wishes to try before making a permanent entry in the book. Such sheets and slips are usually placed loosely between the leaves and when the book is picked up will fall out and sometimes be lost.

The object, therefore, of my invention is to provide a book of this kind with a series of pockets in which the loose sheets and clip-' pings can be placed and kept securely untilsuch time as the cook can test them or have opportunity for copying them into the book.

The invention consists generally in a book having groups of blank leaves with sheets having pockets formed thereininterposed at intervals between the leaves.

ate to form a pocket 8 and the edge of the flap 5 is curved so that the pocket will be deeper at the ends than in the middle to aid in holding the loose sheets or clippings in the pocket and as the recipes accumulate, the cook will place them in the pockets until such time as they can be tested and found of suflicient merit to warrant makin a permanent entry on the blank pages. lhe sheets 4 are provided at the edge with index tabs 9 so that the recipes for the different articles of food can be grouped under the proper .index letter.

The book may be made in various sizes and the number of blank pages 3 will, of course, vary, a greater number being provided under the vowels than under the consonant letters. WVhen the recipe has been entered on one of the blank pages, the slip, of course, may be destroyed and the pockets used only for those recipes which have not been tested or approved, or as a receptacle for the recipes until such time as the housekeeper has opportunity to transfer them to the blank pages.

In various ways the details of construction herein shown and described may be modified and still be within the scope of my invention.

I claim as my invention:

A cook book comprising a cover, a series of blank leaves bound therein, a series of leaves interspersed with said blank leaves side and end flaps thereon, said side flap, when .folded inwardly over the leaf, extending partially across it and secured by the folding inwardly of said end flaps to form a pocket with its mouth opening to the bound edges of the leaves and adapted to receive loose slips of paper having untried recipes, there being a pocket opposite each blank leaf in the book, and permanent entry of the recipes, when tested, being made on the page opposite the pocket containin said recipes, and index tabs on said blan: and pocket leaves.
