IMPROVEMENT IN HARNESS-CLAMPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130,942, dated August 27, 1872.v
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALBERT W. PORTER and SAMUEL A. BRAKE, of Farmer Village, in the county of Seneca and State of New York, assgnors to said ALBERT W. ]?oRTER individually, have invented a new and Improved Harness-Clamp; and we do hereby vdeclare that the following is a full, clear, and
exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing which forms part of this specification.
' The particular object of our invention is to afford a cheap and serviceable clamp, which may be made portable or stationary, and is designed especially for use among farmers and vliverymen in repairing their harness upon a ry way. The clamp is fastened to .the base by the bolt and screw s, or in any other ordinary manner. The jaws should be so bent as to leave the desired opening between the lipssay, one inch, more or less.
AFor operating the clamp we apply the link L and eccentric cam-lever D with the calnpower so arranged as to irmly bring the lips of the jaws a and a together. When used the lever-handle should in every instance be brought down the full distance, so as to be out of the way of the thread in sewing. In this Way the spring of the jaws will increase the pinch upon the article inserted in proportion to its size and the width of the opening.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A harness-clamp, consisting of the clampstrap C, made in form and adjusted as de# scribed, combined with the link L and camlever D, substantially in the manner above set forth.
