A. HOFFELDT.
v RECEPTACLE. APPLICATION FILED NOV-1!,l9l6.

INVENTOR Azzdraw ifafiidlj gan 3) ATTORN EY WITNESSES ANDREW HOFFELDT, 0F HARBOR, OREGON.
RECEPTACLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 3, 1919.
Application filed November 11, 1916. Serial No. 130,900;
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANDR'Ew HorFnLn'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Harbor, inthe county of Curry and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to receptacles and the object of the same resides in the production of a box formed from a single sheet of material, preferably paper.
Another object of this invention is to produce a paper receptacle as above set forth, that is so made as to provide for the suspension of the same from a support.
A still further object of this invention resides in the production of a paper receptacle of the kind above described that is simple in construction, efiicient in operation, consists of the minimum number of parts and can be manufactured for the minimum cost.
With these and other objects in view,- this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a plan of the blank from which this receptacle is folded.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the device, illustrating the method of folding.
Fig. 3 is a view in front elevation of the device in its folded position.
Fig. 4 is a section taken on line H of Fig. 3, and
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view taken through the device when the, same is in a complete folded position.
Referring to the parts by reference 1111- merals, the front side of the box is designated by the numeral 10 and the rear side by the numeral 11, the same being connected at their inner edges by the bottom 12. The.
front wall or section 10 has bent at the side edges thereof the side flaps 13 and 14 and at its outer edge the cover section 15 is bent, the said cover section in turn carrying the flaps 16 and 17 at the side edges thereof. The bottom panel 12 has bent at the side edges thereof end flaps 18 and 19 that in turn have bent on one of their longitudinal To fold the box made from the blank.
shown in Fig. 1, the front and rear portion 10 and 11 are bent at right angles to the panel 12 and the flaps 13 and 14 are bent at right angles to the section 10 and the end flaps 18 and 19 at right angles to the panel 12. lhe bracing and retaining sections 20 and 21 are folded on the line 22 and the flaps 13 and. 14: are positioned against the inner face of the flaps 18 and 19 respectively, and are retained in that position by being engaged with the retaining flaps 20 and 21. When the box has been folded as for as described, and the same is filled the section 2-3 is bent at right angles to the section 11, as clearly shown in Fig. 5, and the cover section 15 at right angles to the section 10 and overlapping the section 23,-it" being obvious that the flapslG and 17 are posititoned in the box or the inner face of the bracin and retaining sections 20 and 21. If it is desired to use the box as a match safe all that is necessary isto fold the section 23 so as to be in alinement with the section 11 and obviously move the cover 15 to a position as shown in Fig. 4. Thedevice can then be suspended by passing a suitable medium through the opening 24. The, cover 15 can then be used as a top for the box when it is not necessary to gain access thereto to protect the contents thereof.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from the material parts thereof. It is therefore not wished to cqnfine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it.
is wished to include all suchas properly come within the scope claimed.
1 claim A collapsible box consisting of a blank folded transversely to form a bottom, front, rear, ton and a flap section, said blank being also folded longitudinally and slit transversely to form end flaps for the top, fi'ont and bottom Walls with unbroken folded corner portions connecting the rear Wall and end flaps of the bottom and extending into the box, the flaps of the bottom being longer than those of the front and top, the flaps of the two latter being; of the-same length, the unbroken corner portions having their free edges inclined and extending from the base of the flap section 10 In testimony whereof 1 affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses,
ANDREW HOFFELDT. Witnesses:
M rs. C. M. BENHAM, Mrs D0 RICHARDS.
