Be it known that I, GREEN C. LANCASTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Parma, in the county of New Madrid and State 0f Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Chair Attachments for Tables, of which the following is a specification.

My invent-ion relates to furniture and more particularly to chair attachments for tables.

The invention has for its primary object the provision of a suitable chair attachment for tables which will allow the transportation of chairs and a table from place occupying the smallest possible space.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character before mentioned in which the chairs are permanently, if so desired, associated with a table and readily foldable under the table when unoccupied. The invention is particularly adapted for use in restaurants and on ship board, suitable means being provided whereby the table and all of the chairs associated therewith may be readily moved from place to place.

Vith the above and other objects in view my invention resides preferably in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth in the specilication as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure I is a top plan view of a table embodying improvements of my invention, portions of the same being broken away,

In the drawings I have provided a table having usual top board 1, said table being provided with four legs designated 2 adjacent the corners thereof, the space between said legs being closed by longitudinally and transversely extending walls 3, said walls being provided at predetermined points with openings, said openings being closed by doors 4, hinged as at 5. Vertical posts 6 serve as jambs for the several doors, all of said doors being practically identical in construction and for this reason I will describe but one of them. As shown to advantage in Fig. Q, the door l is provided with a suitable latch or the like 7, and a chair of any suitable type designated 8 is carried permanently by said door, the chair legs 9 are provided with casters 10 to facilitate the movement of f stools may be provided. This will save agreat deal of space, since, when the chair is unoccupied, it may be moved under the table and allow a wider passage than would ordinarily exist between the tables. It will be further noted that by having the back and front portions of the chair extending at right angles to the door, the chair will be in position to allow the occupant to be easily seated thereon. Furthermore, the particular arrangement of the chair causes the proper spacing of the occupants seated around the table. It is of course obvious that the occupant would desire to be squarely in front of the table and for this reason would pull the chair to the position illustrated in Fig. 2 and also in Fig. l where the one door is shown in an open position. This of course, would cause the doors to be extending exactly at right angles to the supporting wall, when in an open position and in this way the various occupants would not crowd each other but would be properly spaced apart. Any suitable means, not shown, may be provided for connecting the chairs to their respective doors and it is to be understood that while I have shown and described the invention as embodying a specilic structure, such as substitution of the chairs with stools or the like and modifications of the doors for application to different types of tables without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
