Each leg is formed at its upper end with a three-way slot, h, through which passes the pivot I, by which it is secured loosely to the end of the frame. The upper part of the leg curves sharply outward from this slotted end, and then inward, so as to bring the knee K beneath the bottom of the opened frame, near its end. This knee has a cushion, of rubber, leather, or felt, to prevent noise and injury to the frame. From the knee downward the leg 'is nearly or quite straight, and the weight borne by the legs comes mainly upon the cushion and lower part of the leg, and not largely upon the pivots I.

The; legs fold between the ends of the folding frame and those of the upright case, and the slots 12 permit this by enabling each leg, when the front of the bed is slightly raised, to drop down until the pivot I is in the upper part of the slot,when the knee K can clear the lower outer corner of the frame B and the leg Swing outward and around into the position indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 5, when the rearward portion of the three-way slot permits the neck of the pivot I to enter it and allows the leg to fold more compactly.

Between the mantel M and the space into which the bed folds I provide with my narrow beds drawers or a shelf, N with a hinged door, I], in front of it. This inclosure affords space for storage of pillows, bedding, or other articles.

I claim as my invention- 1. The combination,with the casing having guide-grooves closed at each end, the lower end abutments thereof forming rests, of the bed-frame having projections which enter the grooves, and the links 0, pivoted at one end to the casing and at the other end loosely pivoted to the frame, substantially as described.

2. The combination, with the casing and bed frame pivoted thereto, of the legs H, loosely pivoted to the sides of the frame, said legs having offset-knees K, forming a projection to engage with the frame when frame is turned down, substantially as stated.

3. The combination, with the casing and bed-frame pivoted thereto, of the legs H, having three-way slots in their upper ends, a pivot passing loosely through said slot, said legs curving back from the pivot and then curving forward, and being provided with the cushioned projection K, all substantially as described.
