IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-PINS.
Specification forrning part of Letters Patent No. 129,950, dated July 30, 1872.
SPECIFICATION. y
`in connection with the accompanying plate of drawing, hereinafter referred to, forms a full specification of the same, wherein I have set forth the nature and principles of my said invention, by which it may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with sucht parts as I claim and desire to Secure by Letters Patent.
My invention relates to that class of clothespins which are actuated by a spring, and the nature thereof consists in certain improvements in the details of the construction of the same, hereinafter described and shown.
In theaccornpanyin g drawing, which illustrates my invention and forms a part of the specification thereof, Figure 1 is a side view of the Said clothes-pinwhen the parts there- .of are closed, and Fig. 2 is aview of same'with the parts opened.
The construction and operation of my invention are as follows:
In the drawing referred to, A A4 represent the jaws, of similar size and shape. O11 each side of the said pin are the springs B, of the form shown, consisting of a coil, the ends of which cross each other, and are so bent as to pass through the jaws in apertures cut therein parallel with each other.
The pin may be manufactured with great cheapness and facility, from the fact that the sprin gs are arranged altogether on the outside thereof, in such a manner that it is only necessary to bore holes upon the exterior of the pin to secure the said springs in position.
Bythis construction a pin is formed which has no hinge at the fulcruni to hold the parts together.
I claim- A clothes-pin, consisting of the jaws A A and spring B, arranged upon the exterior surface of the said jaws, as and for the purposes described.
In witness whereoi` I have subscribed my naine hereto this 13th day of February, 1872.
