DOOR-SPRING. l
Specification of Lettersl Patent No. 5,124, dated May 22,' 1847.
To all 'whom t mag/'concern l Be it known that I, vTHOMAS Pncx, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondagaand State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Door or Gate Spring; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation therof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specication, in which- Figure l', is a perspective view of a door and casing with one of my improved springs att-ached thereto; and Fig. 2, is a horizontal section of the same.
To the casing immediately over a door, I secure in suitable bearings a drum a, having a cam a, on its periphery, terminating in a radial shoulder.
b, is a curved lever attached to the pe'- riphery of the drum a, extending over the top of the door. i
f, is a spiral spring placed within and secured to the drum a.
v c, is a grooved roller\ placed upon a vertical axle, secured to, and extending above the top of the door. Into the groove in the roller c, the lever b, ts and plays freely as the door is opened and closed.
al, is a spring placed under the drum a, as represented in the drawings, having a roller e, secured at its extremity, which is pressed by the spring againstthe periphery of the drum.l
