IMPROVEMENT IN ADJUSTABLE DESKS.
Specilication forming part of Letters Patent N0. 129,870, dated July 23, 1872.
Specification describing an Adjustable Stand,
invented by MATTHEUS STAHN, of Baltimore,
in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland. i
The invention consists in a triangular stand formed in two hollow sections, one of which is raised or lowered within the other by means of a windlass and held by clamp-screws, as hereinafter fully described and claimed.

A represents the lower and. outer section,
`which i's made triangular, and consists of the three vertical uprights B and the horizontal y bars C. This frame is preferably placed upon casters or rollers, so as to be readily and conveniently moved about a room without the necessity of lifting. D is the upper and inner section, made of three vertical uprights, E, the cross-bars F, and the top and bottom G H. I is a windlass placed transversely in bearings on the stationary section A, and provided with a cord, J, whose ends are attached to the top and bottom G H, respectively. K is a ratchet, and L the .hand-crank by which the shaft is turned, while M isa detent-pawl which holds the ratchet and shaft so as to prevent backward motion. a a are set-screws, which clamp the sections together securely at any point desired.
