Be it known that I, DALE B. JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Iola, in the county of Allen and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Childrens Seats, of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to a childs seat, and the object is to provide a device which may readily be used in connection with the usual bowl of a bath-room toilet, and which when not in use may be folded so that it will occupy a minimum amount of room.
A further object is to provide an adjustable seat comprising a base or step portion, a seat portion, and a plurality of ad uStably mounted arms or connecting members for the elements first named.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of the several parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a view in side elevation, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a base portion or step indicated bylO, this being made if desired in the form of a box of suitable dimensions. A. seat portion 12 is provided with an opening 13, and a plurality of bars or arms 14 are pivotally connected with the seat portion as shown at 15, these arms being each provided with a slot 16 at the lower end for adjustably connecting the elements with the step 10.
Screws or bolts provided with wing nuts serve to connect the bars in such manner that adjustment may be secured, these devices being designated 18. It is obvious thatthe manner of connecting the seat portion and Copies of this patent may be obtained tor five cents each,
step in itself provides for a certain adjustment,
When not in use the seat may be folded into a position parallel with the sides of the step and will occupy but little room.
A spring 20 provided with an offset portion 21 serves to engage each arm and hold the latter in position.
What is claimed is- 1. The combination with a closet bowl, of a seat mounted thereon, a step adapted to be placed on the floor near the bowl, means connecting the step and seat and providing for adjustment between the elements last named for bowls of various heights, said means including a plurality of arms pivotally connected at one end with the seat per-' mitting outward movement of the step along the floor, the arms being provided with slots at their opposite ends, and means for securing the slotted portions to the step.

In a device of the class described, a seatportion, a step, and a plurality of arms pivotally connected with the seat, said arms being slotted at their lower ends and having connection with the step, and means for retaining the arms at times in position for holding the seat perpendicularly with reference to the step.
