BAKEBS-OVEN LIGHT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN F. HOENNINGER, J11, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster, State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bakers-Oven Lights; and I- do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to a bakeoven illu lninating attachment, and more particularly to the class. of automatically operated oven illuminators.
The primary object of the invention is, the provision of. an attachment or illuminator of this character, wherein on the opening of the door to the oven, a switch or valve will be automatically operated thereby controlling the illuminator for the light of the oven, the door when closed being designed to shut off the light within the oven.
Another object of the invention is, the provision of an attachment or illuminator of this character, wherein the switch or valve controlling mechanism thereof is of novel form to positively control the lighting of the oven and the extinguishing of the light on the opening and closing of the door. 7
A further object of the invention is, the provision of an attachment or illuminator of this character, which is simple in construction, readily and easily attached to the oven door frame, thoroughly reliable and efficacious in its operation, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawing in detail, A,
' designates a portion of the front wall of a bake oven or any chamber, the interior of which it is desired to illuminate, B, the door frame and C, the Vertically swinging oven door which is supported on horizontal pintles 10 which are journaled in the door frame 13, as usual. At one side of the door frame, is a recess or cavity 11 in which works the weighted arm 12 which is fixed to one of the pintles 10 of the door C so asto hold the same in open position on initially swinging the same from closed to open position. This arm 12, is manually operated for the opening and closing of said door as is usual. Suitably mounted in the wall A and receiving an electric light bulb is a lamp socket 13 which is arranged within an electric circuit 14 having connection with the main circuit wires 15, in any suitable manner.
Bolted or otherwise fastened to the door frame B immediately below the recess or cavity 11 in the wall A, is a switch box 16, having a swinging front door 17 for access thereto, and within the switch box is arranged any approved form of a swinging knife switch 18, the same being arranged in the circuit 14: and is adaptedto open and close it, the knife of the switch being automatically controlled in a manner presently described.
Formed on top of the box 16 is a boss 19 having a socket in which is slidably received a plunger 20, the upper portion 20 of which is somewhat increased in diameter to form a shoulder 20 which by contact with the upper end of the boss 19., ot only limits downward movement of the plunger but also prevents moisture that may run down the plunger from passing into the socket of the boss. The plunger 20 has a reduced stem 21 which works through the top of the switch box 16 and has pivotally connected thereto, a fiber link 22, the same being also pivotally connected to the knlfe of the switch 18, this fiber link insulating the switch knife from the stem 21, as will be understood. Surrounding the stem 21, is
an adjustable stop nut 23 which limits the vertical movement of the plunger on the opening of the switch. Within the boss 19 and working against the plunger is a coiled expansion spring 24: which serves to elevate the plunger for the lifting of the knife of the switch 18 to open the electric circuit to the lamp interiorly ofthe ovenJ V I The plunger 20 is arranged to project in the path of movement of the weighted arm 12 so that when the door C is opened the weight will strike the plunger and depress it against the resistance of the spring 24 causing the knife of the switch 18 to lower for the closing of the electric circuit 1i for illuminating the lamp on the opening of the door C to the oven. When the door is closed the plunger is elevated or raised by the spring 24; and the knife of the switch 18 is lifted for the opening of the circuit 14, and thus extinguishing the lamp.

What is claimed is: r
The combination with a bakers oven of an illuminating attachment, comprising a housing fixed to the door frame of the oven and having a plunger socket in its top, illuminating means arranged within the oven, a plunger slidably fittedin the socket and having a reduced stem working through the top of the housing, means Within the housing for turning on and off the illuminating means, a swinging door on the housing for closing the same, a coiled spring concealedwithin the socket and active upon theplun ger to normally elevate the same, a weighted c arm connected with the door for movement therefrom, and disposed to engage and depress the plunger when the door is opened, 1
