WINDOW-SHADE FIXTURE.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE MICHEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVindow-Shade Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in fixtures for window shade rollers, adapted to be applied to any ordinary window frame and by means of which a shade roller may be mounted for rotation and may be supported and adjusted to any desired elevation.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window frame provided with fixtures constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention.

For the purposes of this specification a window frame is indicated at A. In accordance with my invention I provide guides 1 which are arranged in opposite sides of the window frame and each of which is channeled, the guides being preferably made of sheet metal and each guide comprising a bottom 2, and walls 3, forming a guide channel 4. The channels of the guides are opposed on opposite sides of the window frame and each wall or side 3 of each tguide is provided with an inwardly-turned ange 5 which partly over-hangs the channel. The guides are secured to the window frame as by means of nails 6 01' the like and the bottom of which guide is provided at spaced points with stops 7 which are struck up therefrom and are integral therewith, said points extending a slight distance into the channel as shown.
I also provide brackets 8 which are each made of a single piece of sheet metal, the width of the brackets being such as to adapt them to fit and to slide vertically in the channels of the guides, each bracket being provided with side walls 9 which bear against the inner sides of the walls of the copies at this patent may be obtained for guides. Each bracket is also provided with a downwardly extending arm 10 which is offset as at 11 at an intermediate point to form a shoulder for engaging the stops of the guide and terminating in a lower extension 12 which bears against the inner sides of the flanges 5, the said arms 10 being in efiect spring dogs. Each bracket has a knob attached to its arm in the angle formed by the offset shoulder 11, as shown. One of the brackets has a circular opening for the reception of the cylindrical spindle at one end of a shade roller, the other bracket having an oblong rectangular opening for the reception of the correspondingly shaped stud at the opposite end of the shade roller. Hence the brackets form bearings and supports for the shade roller which enable the latter to be turned as desired to raise and lower the shade. The brackets are slidable vertically in the guides and may be readily moved to any desired elevation by grasping the knobs, the spring arms or dogs of the brackets engaging the stops in the bottoms of the channels of the guides and hence holding the brackets at any desired adjusted position.
While I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts, without departing from the s irit of my invention and within the scope o the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 2- In combination with a channel guide having stops extending into the channel and also having inwardly turned flanges on its side walls, a bracket slidable in the channel guide between the walls thereof and held therein by said flanges, said bracket having a bearing opening presented between said flanges for the reception of the stud or spindle at one end of a shade roller and also having a downwardly extending spring dog to engage the stops in the guide, and a knob attached to said spring arm and extending outwardly through the slot or space between the said flanges.
