Description

No. 808,354. PATENTED DEC. 26, 1905. M. A. ELLIOTT.
HANGER TOR CURTAIN POLBS AND SHADE ROLLERS,
APPLICATION FILED AUGl8,190 5 anemia;
UNITED srarns ATENT @FFICE.
HANGER FOR CURTAlN-POLES AND SHADE-ROLLERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 26, 1905.
Application filed August 18,1905. Serial No. 274,685.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, h IILO A. ELLIOTT, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Waterville, in the county of Kennebec and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hangers for Curtain-Poles and Shade-Rollers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The present invention has for its object to provide a hanger for shade and curtain poles that is capable of being reversed and adjusted to adapt the hanger to window-frames of various constructions and designs on which the ordinary hanger could not be used; and the invention consists in a shade and curtain pole hanger constructed substantially as shown in the drawings and hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a shade and curtain pole hanger constructed in accordance with my invention, showing it in position and attached to a portion of a window-frame. Fig. 2 is'a similar view showing the hanger in a reversed position to that shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the hanger when used in an upright position.
In the accompanying drawings the hanger comprises the bracket A and the bracket B, formed integral and disposed at right angles to each other, said brackets being constructed of any suitable metal found most desirable. The bracket A is provided with a hook or segmental bearing a for the pole of the curtain or lambrequin and a. bearing for the end of the shade-roller, preferably in the form of an open notch b, and is used when the hanger is in position shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
Where a shade-roller only is used and the roller is of greater length than would engage the bearings on the two hangers of a window, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the space between the hangers is increased by reversing them, as indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the bearing comprising the notch d supporting the end of the shade-roller, thereby adjusting the hanger by reversing it to adapt it to the increased length of the shade-roller.
Frequently window-frames are of such construction and design that the hanger in the positions shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings could not be used thereon, and in such event the hanger is inverted, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawin s, the bracket A being upright instead of horizontal, which will adapt itself to be used in places where the attachment of the hanger when in the positions shown in the above figures of the drawings would be impossible.
The hanger when in the position shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings, and the bearing c,which also is in the form of an open notch, supports the end of theshaderoller, and in Figs. 2 and 3 the hookor segmental bearing or support a for the curtain-pole is not brought into use.
It is preferable that a spur e be provided at the juncture of the two brackets A B, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings, so as to enter the wood of the window-frame when the hanger is used in the position shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, and screws or other suitable and well-known fastenings may be used to secure the hanger in place, as found best adapted to the purpose.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A reversible and adjustable hanger for curtain-poles and shade-rollers, comprising two brackets disposed at right angles to each other, the brackets having bearings or suports for the shade-roller upon upper and ower edges thereof respectively, one of said brackets having a support for the curtainpole and a support for the shade-roller at the end of said bracket and lengthwise therewith, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MILO A. ELLIOTT.
