To all whom t may, concern Be it known that I, HARRY H. SELLERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glendora, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California., have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose- Nozzles, of which the following is al specification.
, This invention relatesto a hose nozzle and has for its principal object the production of a device which is constructed so as to permit a stream of water to ybe projected therefrom or to cause fine streams of a spray like nature to be projected therefrom.
Another object of this invention is a pro duction of a hose nozzle, wherein the nozzle is provided with a partition, thereby permitting a stream of water or a spray to be projected therefrom.
Another object of this invention is the production of a hose nozzle wherein the nozzle is provided with a partition extending longitudinally thereof, while the nozzle is also provided with means for directing water into either compartment of the nozzle, thus allowing the water to be projected in a stream or in a spray like formation.
With these and other objects in view, this device relates to certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view of a hose nozzle as constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, it will be seen that the nozzle l is of a substantially cylindrical elongated construction, but tapers toward its discharge end, and is the usual construction of nozzles of this sort. Of course, it is obvious that any shape, size, or form of nozzle may be employed without departing from the spirit of the present invention, in lieu of the nozzle as herein shown.
A partition 2 is formed integral within the nozzle 1 and extends longitudinally thereof, as shown clearly in Figs. 2 and 3. This partition has end walls 3 connected to the body of the nozzle 1, thereby forming a closed end compartment, which will be known as the spray compartment.
An enlarged collar 4 is formed upon the inner end of the nozzle 1 and this collar 4 is internally threaded so as to be secured to a hose or other element, such as is commonly employed in connection with adevice of the present nature.
\ The neck 5 is formed integral uponV one side of the nozzle body 1 and this neck 5 is also provided with an enlarged internally threaded collar 6, which is also adapted to be screwed on to any suitable source of supply of water.
It will be noted that the body 1, of the nozzle is provided with a plurality of apertures 7 formed therethrough which communicates with the spray compartment of the nozzle 1. Y
In the use of the ordinary nozzle upon a hose, it has been found necessary to either cut off a supply of water in order to permit a second nozzle to be applied thereto, in order to obtain a direct stream instead of a. spray or else it is necessary to provide a complicated mechanism for making this stream. In the present device however, the hose or other source of supply is attached to the collar 4 and then the water is turned on. It is obvious the water will pass through the discharge passage formed below the partition 2 so as to be projected from the discharge end of the nozzle thus being thrown wherever it is desired. If however, it is desired to use the nozzle as a. spray the hose is then detached from the collar 4 and is applied to the collar 6. The water may then be turned on and as it passes into the spray chamber, it will be dischargedthrough the spray apertures 7, thus spraying the lawn or other surface upon which the nozzle is placed.' It will be noted that the neck 5 extends from said nozzle intermediate the ends thereof and particular attention is invited to Fig. 3, wherein it is clearly shown that this neck extends at substantially right angles to the apertures 7. As a result, when a hose is applied to the collar carried upon the neck, it is obvious this hose will hold the nozzle, when resting upon a supporting surface, such as the ground, tc have the apertures extending upwardly, thus causing a spray-like formation of the water to be thrown upwardly and to fall in the usual spray-like manner.
From the foregoing description it will be CJD seen that a very eiiicient hose nozzle has been produced which may be used for either projecting the Water therefrom in a stream, or Which may be operated to dispense the Water in a spray like formation, thus permitting the nozzle to be placed upon a support and spray the ground there adjacent.
It is of course obvious that many changes may be made in the detail construction of this invention without departing` from the spirit of the device and for this reason it is not intended to limit the construction of this nozzle to the specific form herein shown, but to includeall such forms of the device that properly come Within the scope of the invention as claimed.

A hose nozzle comprising an elongated body, a partition carried Within said body, said partition having end Walls, thus forming` an inclosed compartment Within said body, said body having apertures communicating With said incloscd compartment, a neck formed on said body and extending from one side thereof, and hose attaching means carried upon the outer end of said neck and upon one end of said body, thus permitting a source of Water to be attached to either said neck or the end of said body for causing the Water to be projected through said nozzle or to be projected into said inclosed compartment and pass through said apertures and be dispensed in a spray like formation.

A hose nozzle comprising an elongated body, a partition carried Within said body, said partition having end Walls, thereby forming an inclosed compartment within said body, said body having apertures communicating With said inclosed compartment, hose attaching means connected to one side of said body and extending therefrom at right angles to said apertures, hose attaching means connected to one end of said body, thus permitting a source of Water to be attached to either the side or end of the body for causing the Water to be directed through said nozzle in a stream or to be directed through said closed compartment and pass through said apertures in a spray like formation, the extension of said hose attaching means with respect to said aper tures causing the hose attaching means to constitute a support for holding the body against rotation, thus allowing the spray to be directed upwardly.
