specification of Letters rarest;
Patenten aan ai., reis.
Appuation med any 2a, 191s. serial at. 770,524.
Amore particularly to-means for attaching a sprinkling device, and the principal ob3ect is to provide a nozzle with a'sprinkling member.
lt -is also an object to provide a nozzle with means for closing off the sprinkling member as desired.
It is a further object to p'rovidea sprinkler with a support by which the latter may be readily supported in Xed and mow.
able relation to any desired position on the ground. t
In the drawings accompanying this specification and forming therewith the applicm tion for Letters Patent: Figure l is a 1ongitudinal sectional view through' the nozzle, the sprinkler being-shown mainly in elevation. Fig. 2 shows the device in elevation n and in position to be used as a nozzle. Fig; 3 is a, detail section on the line 3 3 'of Fig.
2 Viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows. v
More specifically in the drawings, 5 des- I ignates a cylindrical tubular body portion having a threaded fianged end 6 adapted to engage withthey coupling 7 of the ordinary type' of garden hose and connectedv thereto 1n the usual manner `with a washer i lindrical and its outer end is spaced a sulli-v cient distance from the bore 10 to permit of the passage of water, the inner end being supported upon a partition l2 which is of triangular shape and extends across the vwalls of the body member 5 in such position that :it leaves arcuate openings lltfor the passage of water between the partition and the inner wall.
The outer surface of thebody-is preffy erably'f' threaded from the vshoulder l5 inwardly to receive the threaded anged endy 'L of the cap l?, which is adapted to snugly t the cylindrical 'walls of the nozzle memy ber from the shoulder 16 outward and is adapted to fit either this nozzle rneinberl or the sprinkler member 18:
The sprinkler member is preferably located intermediate of the nozzle member and of the flanged end 6, and consists ot a right angled extension having the saine con'- iguration externally 'as the nozzle/'member 9, its dome shaped top 19 being provided with a yplurality of openings through which the water is distributed in any desired man.-
ner. The cylindrical portion of the shoulder 20 and the threaded section from the shoulder inwardly are of the same diameter as that of the nozzle member and the cap 17, as stated, can be used and forms aproper it on either of these members. v
To support the sprinkler when desired in the fixed position a sharpened stud 2i is formed on and extends from the oppositelyr disposed wall, and is preferably of such lengthas to readily support the device in relation to the ground when inserted there in, as clearly shown in Fig. l.
The operation of the device will be readily understood from the drawings and description thereof, Fig. l showing the cap on the nozzle member and the adaptation to sprinkling a lawn, Fig. 2 showing'- the cap securely covering the sprinkler member and preventing the exit of water therefrom, the distributing plate l2 compelling the water lto come in such relation 'to the inner surface of the dome 9 that an efficient and equable spray is formed through the exit or bore 10.
"What l claim is: l
ln a device such as described the combination with a hollow body portion having means at one end thereof for engaging a source of fluid supply, outlet nozzles extending integrally from the body and communieating therewlth, one in a'hnement with the body and the other at right angles thereto,
said nozzles being of corresponding shape land size and including tubular members having ,rounded ends and enlarged shoulders Aprovided with exterior threads adia- 5 cent the inner ends ofthe nozzles, and a re' movable cap for alternately closingfthe noz- Sil zles including atubular member closed at its outer and and mterlorly threaded at lts 111- ner end for engaging the threads upon said ders forming@ `tight jnt.
f In Witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 19 day of May, 1913.'
