INIPRVEMNT- IN `SAD-IRON STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,778, dated July 9, 1872.
Specification describing a new and Im proved Sad-Iron Stand, invented by GEORGE 0. BALLOU, of Fall River, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts.
My invention consists of a sad-iron stand, of metal or anyr other suitable substance, with an upper surface formed of polishing material of anysuitable kind, whereby it will hold the sadirons, and at the same time polish the roughened or corroded surfaces of the irons.
Figure l is a sectional elevation of my improved sad-iron stand taken on the line x of Fig. 2, and Fig. 2 is a plan view.

A is the cast-metal portion, with a Wide shallow recess lin the upper side. B is the polishing upper surface, composed of plaster of Paris, elncry, fine sand, brick-dust, or any equivalent substance, that may be packed in i* I the said `recess so as to present a hard and durable surface that will be capable ofpolishing,` the irons. Besides polishing the irons the polishing material will not conduct the heat away from the irons as much as the common .substantially as specified.
