  • This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements, in pressure screws for a of the clothes wringers, the object being to provide a pressure screw with a semi-oval shaped headhaving recesses to receive the fingers so that the same can be readily asped by the operator in ordcrto adjust t e pressure on the ressure rolls without any danger and slipping thereby overcoming the disadvantages now existing in pressure screws of this character as when the hand becomes soapy and it is attempted to operate the pressure screws on the clothes wringer the hand slips, while with this construction a firm gri is obtained.

a citizen of the United States, residing at New York cit in the county of New York and State of i cw York, have invented certain new and useful Improvemcntsai lrcssure-Screws for Clothes-'ringers, of which the following is a specification, reference oeinghad therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements, in pressure screws for a of the clothes wringers, the object being to provide a pressure screw with a semi-oval shaped headhaving recesses to receive the fingers so that the same can be readily asped by the operator in ordcrto adjust t e pressure on the ressure rolls without any danger and slipping thereby overcoming the disadvantages now existing in pressure screws of this character as when the hand becomes soapy and it is attempted to operate the pressure screws on the clothes wringer the hand slips, while with this construction a firm gri is obtained.
Another object o' my invention is to provide a pressure screw which is exceedingly simple and cheap in construction, and one which is provided with a head of such a shape that the same can be readily grasped by the whole hand.
Other and further objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter set forth and the novel features thereof defined by the apiended claims.

In carrying out my invention I preferably form the pressure screw by casting the same, but it is, of course, understood that the same can be milled out of a block, or the stem and which gradually decrease -tion and a series of finger receiving re signature in the presence of two witncssc head can be formed separately and connected together.

By providing a-pressure screw of this character to he used in connection with a clothes wringer, the operator is able to sp the head and manipulate the screw to adjust the pressure on the pressure rails Without any danger of the hand slipping on the pressure screw as it will-be seen that the hand is in position, the palm rests upon the top screw and the finger is dropped into the recess so that the head can he grasped.
I claim:

A ressure screw for clothes stringers, comprising a threaded shank having a sn cstantially semi-oval shaped head the circumferenceof said head being provided with vertically disposed recesses substantially s semicircular in cross section extending from the ed e of said head toward the ct thereo said recesses decreasing in width and depth toward the center of the head forming a substantially smooth central 2.
