Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,162, dated June 18, 1872.
Specification describing a certain Improved Stove-Pipe Shelf, invented by LEONARD O. MILLARD, of the city and county of St. Louis and State of Missouri.
My invention relates to improvements in pivoted shelves attached to stove-pipes; and consists in the manner of construction and support, which admits of the shelves (two in number) being swung around so as to form a combined shelf either before or behind the pipe, and in close contact therewith.
Figure 1 shows my improvement in perspective. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, the shelves-being shown in two positions, by full and dotted lines, respectively.
A is the stove-pipe, around which extends a collar, B, that may have-a hinge opposite its open side, or may be made with sufficient flexibility to admit of its removal from and attachment to the stove-pipe without the use of a hinge. The open side of the collar has two out-turned lugs, I), through which passes a thumb-screw, O, that may be slackened or removed to admit of the change of position or removal of the collar. D are pivots extending upward from opposite sides of the collar. The shelves E have sockets snugl-y fitting the pivots D. The edges 0 of the shelves, on each side of the sockets, are curved to fit the stovepipe, extending one-fourth around the same when the shelves are side to side, as shown in Fig. 2, in which position the two shelves combine to form a single shelf upon either side of the pipe, as shown by full and dotted lines.
I claim as my inventiona The stove-pipe shelves E, constructed and arranged so as to form a combined shelf upon the opposite sides of the stove-pipe, substantially as set forth.
