This invention relates to a new buckle, which is provided with two two tongues on the same pivot, and with a guard for securing the same and the straps in position, thereby producing a simple and reliable means of connecting two straps.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l represents a top View, and Fig. 2 a longitudinal section of my improved buckle.
-Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A in the drawing represents the frame of :the buckle, of rectangular or other form. B is the pivot for the two tongues a and b, it being a rigid cross-bar in the frame. Another such cross-bar, d, is also formed in the frame, as shown. The tongue a is plain and short, and rest-s on the end of the frame. The tongue b is a forked wire, with a vertical prong, e, at the outer end, said end tting through the slotted end pieces f of the frame. gis a guard or cross-piece above the middle of the frame.
One strap, C, is drawn through the slotted piece f, laid around the cross-bar d, and then again drawn through the piece f, asin Fig. 2..
The prong e of the tongue b is then let down through it and the piece f. The other strap, D, is buckled by the tongue a in the ordinary manner, and then drawn under the guard g, so as to rest on the tongue b and hold it down, preventing it from being raised out of the strap O.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The buckle-frame A, provided with crosspieces B d, slotted end piece f, tongues a b, and guard g, all arranged to operate substantially as herein shown and described.
