To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, Torvo LEMPIE, a citizen of the United States, residin at Montesano, in the county of Grays arbor and State of Washington, have invented new and useful Improvements in Revolver- Handles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to auxiliary or target handles for pistols adapted to be secured to the handle frame of a pistol after the ordinary cheek pieces or stocks have been removed therefrom.

An object of the invention is to enlarge the handle to provide a broader and firmer grip on the wea on.

A further obgect of the invention is to produce an auxiliary pistol stock designed to raise the point of the weapon a little higher than the grip which goes with the gun, and therefore permit of the weapon to be sighted in an easier manner than by the employment of the ordinary stock or grip.

It is a still further obj ect of the invention to produce an auxiliary or target handle for pistols which may be readily attached to the frame of any ordinary pistol, by simply removing the cheek pieces therefrom, and which will wholly inclose the handle frame and contact with the trigger uard, so that the trigger actuating fingerl o the operator will be guided in a natural manner to proper operating position, and also whereby the remaining fingers of the hand of the operator will grip the stock in a rmer and better manner. i

Other objects of the invention will appear as the nature of the improvement is better understood, reference being had to the drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the frameof a pistol showing the improved auxiliary or target handle applied thereto;

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view approximately on the line 3-3 of Fig. l; and

Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one of the sections of a handle looking toward the inner base thereof,

In the drawings I have illustrated a portion of a pistol, which is indicated by the numeral 5. The handle frame of the pistol is indicated by the numeral 6, and the guard for the trigger by the numeral 7.

The handle stock is centrally cut away in the usual manner for lightness and for mechanical purposes, and is provided at its lower portion with laterally extending pins. The improved stock or grip comprises two substantially similar sections each indicated by the numeral 9. These sections, when Yassociated entirely receive the frame 6, and

provide the pistol with what is known as a square butt stock. Each of the sections 9, upon its inner face is provided with a depression of a depth approximately equalling one-half of the thickness of the pistol frame 6, and is of a width corresponding to that of the pistol frame. These depressions are indicated by the numeral 10, and an inner wall of each of the depressions adjacent to the bottom wall thereof is provided with a recess 11, adapted to receive the pins 8. Both of the members 9 are provided with openings, one of which is threaded and the other reamed from the outer face of the member. Passing through these openings, and through the central cut-awa portion in the pistol frame 6 is a heade screw 12, the head of the screw referred to being in the reamed portion in one of the stock members and the thread of the screw co-engaged with the threads in the opening of the other stock member.

The upper wall of the recess portion 10 is rounded, as at 13, and this rounded portion is designed to be received in the curved depression 14, provided on the pistol frame at the juncture of the handle portion 6 therewith. The inner face of each of the stock members 9, above the rounded wall or shoulder 13 is further depressed, as at 15, and the inner edge of each of the stocks, at the upper corner thereof, is provided with a rounded extension 16, the lower wall provided by the depression 15 being curved or rounded as at 17, from the rounded shoulder 13, over the referred to extension 16. This portion 17 is designed to conform to the shape of the trigger guard 7 at the inner end thereof, and the construction of the stock or cheek pieces 9 builds out the handle portion of the pistol.

It will be observed that the auxiliary stock permits of the user obtaining a better grip on the pistol, and guides his index finger to proper engagement with the trigger. The cheek pieces 9 may be made of wood, or any other desired material.
